Summer Time Favourites – What I’ve Been Loving Over The Summer Months

September 9, 2019
Pink skincare collection

You may have noticed but I stopped doing monthly favourites a few months back. I stopped because I didn’t have enough items I wanted to shout out about. And I didn’t want to include things just for the sake of it. So I decided to do a summer favourites post covering things from June until now. I say this every single time I post, but where has the time disappeared to? I have no idea how August is now over.

For me, 1st September is when Christmas kicks in, I know it’s still early but I like to plan. This year I’m trying to be especially early as I’m back at my parents so taking images for gift guides won’t be quite as easy. And also because we’re saving and I want to spread out any cost. But without further ado here are some of the things I was loving over the summer.

Dr Jart+ Trans-foam Clay

I’m really really trying to not buy any new skincare as I have so much to use. But when I was in Selfridges a few months back I spied this Dr Jart Trans-form Clay which was calling my name. It applies to the face as a pink clay mask but you only have to leave it on the face for a few minutes. And then you wet it and rub your face like you would with a cleanser as it transforms.

I’ve been a huge fan of Dr Jart+ products for a while anyway, and this is another top item to add to the list. It’s great for those nights where you don’t have time for a full face mask. But your skin still needs a treat. As a clay, it helps to absorb oil and detoxify your skin. And then when you splash it with water it helps to remove makeup, brighten and tone the skin and also remove dead skill cells. My skin definitely feels fresher after I use it.

I’ve since found that ASOS sells the three-set which includes a green, white, and pink clay mask. So when I’m finished with my one I might treat myself to the set as it works out cheaper.

Tortishell Ray Bans

I was lucky enough to be gifted these sunglasses after an event at Intu Watford from David Clulow and they’ve been complete essentials this summer. One thing I love about them is the shape and size. They cover enough of my face that it blocks out the sun, but they’re too round or big on me. As they’re more of a plastic finish they don’t have a middle piece around the nose. This means when I put them on my head when I go inside the metal bits don’t get caught up in my hair. This is one of the things which has put me off wearing my other Ray Ban’s as they ruin my hairdo. Not that I spend much time on my hair haha.

Me in green stripe culottes

Culottes

When it got pretty warm over July I was in a bit of a pickle about how to dress. This happens every single time that it gets super warm, but this year I discovered culottes. I used to think that they wouldn’t be flattering on my larger frame because baggy-legged things don’t tend to be. But firstly I’ve stopped caring what’s flattering, as long as I’m happy it’s good. But also it got so warm I needed anything which would be cooling on my legs.

Our office at work has insane air conditioning so it was quite cool during the heat. So I wanted something covering my legs, but something that was still super cool. I’ve got one pair from Joanie from when I worked with them a few months back. And I also picked up a super lightweight tiger print pair from ASOS.

Stranger things

Stranger things came out at the start of summer, and like every other season, we got pulled in. We tried our best to not binge-watch it so we spread out watching over about 10 days. While I hated having to wait for the next episode I did prefer it this way. I love the previous seasons and I do think that the show just gets stronger and stronger. I won’t talk much about the plot in case I spoil it for anyone who’s still planning on watching it but it’s bloody great!

Ohh I might have to try some cullottes, I used to wear baggier trousers but I found I’ve started to fall over them, but as they are shorter this would easier! Thank you for the idea.

I used to love cullottes, I don’t know why I stopped wearing them. I definitely need to dig them out of my wardrobe and give them a whirl again.

cullotes really do suit you and I’m glad you’ve stopped caring about others opinions when it comes to what you wear. You need light weight clothes for the summer and stripe ones look fab.
