Gift Guide For Her – Christmas 2019

Mini gin set from prezzybox

but all thoughts and opinions are my own

There’s no denying it now, it’s properly Christmas. Shops have all their goodies out, I’ve seen plenty of house fronts decorated up. And I’m pretty much done with my present buying now. Apologies to anyone who still hasn’t finished, or maybe you haven’t even started. Whichever camp you sit in, if you need some inspiration on some gifts for her then I’m here to help. Although this guide is called gifts for her, the items below are really gifts for anyone.

I’m going straight in with the gin. This Old Curiosity Secret Garden Gin Miniatures Gift Box* (£22.99) is a great way to try out three interesting flavours. The mini bottles of gin are each infused with some garden-based flavours. These include Lavender and Echinacea, Apothecary Rose and Chamomile and Cornflower. Now some of these flavours I’ve never heard of before in gin so it’s very unusual. The gins come in a beautiful little box and this would make a great treat for any gin lover! Who doesn’t love to try something new?!

Pomegranate gin fizz yankee candle

Gift guide for her: Candles

Now from gin to something which just smells a little like gin. This Pomegranate Gin Fizz Candle* (£23.99) from Yankee is a beautiful festive scent without being too obvious like gingerbread or cinnamon. The pomegranate mixes with citrus and cranberry for a lovely fruity cocktail. You can smell a hint of juniper berry and gin which gives it the added dimension.

If you’re buying for anyone like me who’s a candle lover then this would go down a treat. The large jars from Yankee which is what’s above last between 110 and 150 hours. So you’ll get plenty of burn time from it.

Leggings for her

For the lady who likes to workout

I’m pretty sure most women own at least one (or ten) pairs of leggings. They’re great for everyday wear, go with most things and above all are comfortable. I recently discovered Love Leggings which do a whole range of designs including these High Waisted Leggings* (£15). I usually try to pull leggings up as high as possible anyway. But these ones are designed to do that *hooray*. These leggings are so comfortable as they’re made with super soft cotton and a cosy brushed inside. They have a thick control high waistband which is both comfortable but gives that extra bit of support.

One thing I really love about these leggings is that they’re opaque and properly black. So many pairs of leggings I see are partially see-through. And there’s nothing worse than seeing someone’s underwear through a cheap pair of leggings. Am I right?! There’s a whole range of sizes from a UK 4 to a UK 28 which made a huge difference for me. If you’re buying for someone who’s into exercising or just going out for a walk they also do Cropped Sport Leggings* (£27). These are supportive but lightweight at the same time. And they even have small easy access pockets which is so unusual for leggings. So you have somewhere to put your phone and keys when you’re out.

Grey cord and rose gold bracelet

Gift guide for her: Jewellery options

In my opinion, it’s hard to go wrong with jewellery when it comes to gifts. For me, I love bracelets as they’re so easy to layer up and you’re not restricted with what you can wear them with. This Personalised Grey Bracelet with Rose Gold Tag* (£19.99) is a beautiful yet affordable piece of jewellery. I love cord bracelets as they’re so easy to adjust, and this one is just that. All you need to do is pull on the cords at the side and you can make it as big or as small as you like.

The main attraction is the rose gold plated charm in the middle which you can get personalised with an initial. Of course, mine has an R on it for my name. And you can even choose from three different fonts for the added special touch. I’ve pretty much-worn mine non-stop and considering the charm is only plated it’s lasting really well. And the cord itself has stayed tight so it doesn’t slide around on your arm.

Another special jewellery gift would be an item that has the person’s birthstone in. For anyone born within the month of Christmas, that’s turquoise which is a beautiful mid-blue colour. I’ve always had mixed feelings about my birthstone, Garnet. In some lights, I think the dark red is beautiful, but there are so many other birthstones I also love like Amethyst (February) and Opal (October). Getting a piece of jewellery with someone’s birthstone in shows true thought.

Pyro pets candle

Alternative candles

I have seen the Pyro Pet candles around for a while and wanted one for as long. And finally, I have a Pyropet Cat Candle* (£25) which I’m so excited about. The Pyro Pet candles are the brainchild of Thorunn and Icelandic design. And the idea came to her while studying at the Royal College of Art in London, and after launching a Kickstarter campaign in 2011 it reached its funding goal in just 4 days.

The candles are really unusual and depict an animal such as the cat I have above, but also a dog, dragon, horse, bunny, owl and more. From the outside, they’re beautiful geometric animals, but inside there is a metal skeleton of the animal which as you burn the candle gets exposed. The concept is really unusual, but so blooming cool. My cat is currently just on the display but I can’t wait to get burning her.

handmade slippers

Gift guide for her: Cosy footwear

You can’t go wrong with slippers at Christmas right?! Especially when they’re bespoke handmade sheepskin slippers* (£35) which feel as warm as they look! The slippers are all handmade in the Polish Highlands using techniques passed down through the generations. And because they’re handmade with hand-stitched embroidery, each one is unique.

At this time of the year when the UK seems to be getting very cold, these will keep your toes warm as the top and sides are lined with sheep fur, and the inside sole is lined with 100% sheep wool. The rest of the slipper is 100% leather so it’s designed to last (although they are for indoor use only!) I love the embroidery on the toe of the slippers as I can imagine someone sitting there to hand stitches it. And each one is so colourful. And the sheep fur lined tops mean your ankle stays warm as much as your feet.

evolve beauty candle and face mask set

For the lady who loves to be pampered

Evolve Beauty has launched some beautiful gift sets which would be great for Christmas. The Candlelight Glow Collection* (£34) features a Radiant Glow Mask and an Evolve Serenity Candle. So both items are designed to be part of a relaxing pamper session. The face mask is really luxurious with a chocolate scent running through it. After applying an even layer I let the mask do its thing and my skin felt both hydrated but also glowy after leaving it on. Just what you want from a face mask. And it’s suitable for all skin types.

The candle has a citrus, delicate floral and vanilla scents throughout and it was really calming. The blend is designed as an ultimate mood-boosting treat and I definitely felt that when it was lit. The set is completely natural, vegan and eco-friendly and cruelty-free. It goes to show you can create amazing beauty products sticking to natural.

ceramic and wood diffuser

Gift guide for her: Home fragrance

Aroma diffusers are a must for me. We tend to have one in almost all night when we go to sleep throwing off a sleepy lavender scent. And they’re nice during the day when you want something nice smelling but you don’t want to light a candle. The Ellia Ascent Ultrasonic Oil Diffuser* (£44.99) is a great sized diffuser to everyday use. The diffuser itself is really smart looking with wood and ceramic exterior. And it has a bit of weight to it, so feels like good quality. Some diffusers I’ve seen are all plastic so they feel quite light and cheap.

If you’re not too familiar with diffusers you just need to add water and up to 7 drops of essential oil. Then the diffuser will let the natural aromas fill your space. Not only does it smell nice but the humidity helps to alleviate dry air. A godsend for the winter! You can have the mist on continuously with a 6 hour run time, or intermittently with a 12 hour run time. This is quite a good run time for a diffuser as it’s not a bulky unit. You can choose to have the colour-changing light on. I love to have this on during the event as it’s really calming. And then I just turn it off before I go to sleep.

beach canvas print

I always love getting anything for the home, practical or decorative for Christmas. And that’s why I think getting artwork can be a great gift. And that’s where Canvas Art Rocks come in. This tropical beach canvas print* (From £8) just makes me think of the summertime and trips abroad. And it brings a smile to my face when I look at it, which is just what you want from the artwork.

The images can be created as prints or canvas’ in such a wide array of sizes which means you can buy it to suit any space. As mine was a canvas it was ready to hang and really easy to do.
