*This is a collaborative post for my October 2021 overview but all words and thoughts are my own
We’re now just two months from the end of the year and I have no idea how that happened. And October 2021 went by as quickly as others have. October was quite a manic month to be honest. Half of my family had COVID at the end of September and start of October, although thankfully they’re all better now. And it’s been go-go-go ever since.
Here’s what I got up during October 2021.
I know most of you are probably here for the kitten update and it’s great. We’ve now these little cuties in our lives for about 7 weeks now and they’re the best things. At the start of October, they had their second jabs and microchipping and they were very brave. For their first few weeks with us, they stayed in the living room, but near the end of October we let them out into the rest of the downstairs (and the stairs/ hallway) and they have been loving it. There’s so much more to explore, although they get everywhere so it can be quite crazy when they’re having their mad moments.
And they’ve been great in terms of using their new litter tray which is outside of the living room and where they were used to. I couldn’t have asked for anything more to be honest. They’re getting bigger day by day and Thor is getting more blond than ginger but it’s amazing watching them grow.
Luke has been wanting laser eye surgery for a long time and after one failed attempt earlier in the year he tried again and had it done at the start of October. After a few days of pain and a week off work, it’s amazing how much difference it’s made to his life. And I’m so happy that he’s happy.
October 2021 was also the month that my brother got married. He and his now-wife have been together coming up 14 years so she’s as much part of the family as he is and it was such a lovely day. It was so nice seeing them together, but also family and people I hadn’t seen in a while.
I had about four or five meals out over the month which was pretty good going, but two really stand out. I finally got to experience Dishoom’s dinner menu with my friend and it was everything I had hoped for (and more!) And then I met another friend for a catchup near the end of the month at a beautiful Italian on Regent Street. I’m already trying to plan to go back again as the food was so good.
I’m a huge theatre lover and I managed to tick off a rescheduled show and a rewatch. Near the start of the month, I went to see Wicked for the second time in much better seats. The musical itself was amazing, and the pair that played Elphaba and Glinda were incredible. And then after plenty of reschedules, Frozen came out which I saw mid-month. It was even more amazing than I thought it would be, the actual production was beautiful. I’m really keen to go back again once it’s less busy and get better seats.
2021 was the very first time I went pumpkin picking which was a lot of fun. We had our pumpkins in the house all month before carving them and putting them outside our house. Now our house is quite hidden and not the easiest to see but we 3 trick or treaters which was so nice as we missed out on our first Halloween in a house year due to the pandemic.
Over the Halloween weekend, I had my parents round for a day and evening to catch up and then my nan and auntie round. The latter came mainly to meet the kittens as they’d not seen them but it was such a wholesome weekend.
Christmas planning is in full swing now, and I don’t feel bad talking about it now it’s November. I have been doing as much of my Christmas shopping as possible and coming up with some ideas for everyone else. It’s good to have a list to go off so I know what I’m looking for such as a cuban chain, hip hop jewelry, or a lovely candle.
I have a list of things I want to keep an eye open for over the Black Friday weekend to try and save some money. There’s some technology bits and some stuff from retailers I know have had sales before. I have chains on the list, beauty items and other bits.
My gift guides are also now in full swing with three already live. I spend months prepping for gift guide season and then it always comes around so quickly. I have five more in the works coming each Monday until December so there is loads more to come.

As a non glasses wearer I don’t think I appreciated how much difference it would make to him x
