Taking a trip to the USA is exciting, and when travelling from the UK, it’s a bit of a way to get there. So it’s a good thing to know the tips when it comes to travelling long haul and what you’ll need to know and take with you. Here are some travel tips when flying to the USA.

Don’t Skimp On The Flight

Flights are expensive to the USA, and that’s a given. It’s going to be one of those long-haul flights, and if you’re not used to those, then they can be quite an experience. When purchasing a flight to the USA, if you want to travel comfortably, it’s best not to skimp on the cost. Unless you wanted to go, business class, then you probably want to spend at least £400 or £500 to fly with a good airline. Spend that little bit extra to get the extra legroom, or some airlines offer to upgrade you to premier seats. In-flight food is always going to be interesting, but make sure you eat.

Get ESTA Approved

A lot of countries will require visitors to the country to have a visa. This is a visa that you might need to collect when you land in the country. Some you have to pay for, and others are just given to you for free. With the USA, you’ll need to do it before online, and this is called ESTA. Try to do a month or so before you travel because it does take a few days for it to process. You’ll then want to print this out to present on your flight and when you land and go through security. There are many of those who travel last minute, so there may be a ESTA check-in place where you can do it right before you fly. Always check with your airline provider though if you’re not sure.

Be Wary Of Jet Lag

Jet lag is very much real, and it can be painful for those who’ve never experienced it before. As your body adjusts to the shift in time difference, you might want to factor in some of your trip to cover those days where you are jetlagged. It usually lasts for a day or two, so you might want to take it easy on your first few days if it’s your first time travelling to different time zones.

Have TSA-Approved Luggage

It’s great to see that airports have such strict rules on security and luggage. With so many disasters happening in the past, it’s good to see security and passenger safety taken seriously. With many American flights, these airlines will often check suitcases and other luggage to do a spot check of what’s inside. Having TSA-approved luggage is useful because it easily allows them access to the suitcase. If you don’t and they decide to check it, they will forcefully open it.

Flying to the USA is a wonderful experience and should be tried at least once in your lifetime.
