As Autumn gets underway and this year comes to an end, it has a lot of us thinking about the start of a new year and everything that comes with it. While 2020 has been a year unlike any other, it has also had many of us pick up new hobbies and skills that we will keep with us for the rest of our lives. If you find that there are still things you want to learn to do, there is no better time to put a goal onto it than a new year. New hobbies are always great to learn as they are things you can implement into all aspects of your life. Whether you want to start a new career, get into a new college, or simply redevelop your own attributes, it is a win-win situation. Why not set yourself a challenge to learn five new skills for 2021? Here are some top ideas….
There are so many sports out there, yet most of us tend to stick to the same ones. Why not set your task for 2021 to learn something new? A great skill to pick up is skating and you can look at places such as the Impala skate buying guide if you are after some more information on what to buy. Whether you decide to rollerblade, ice skate, or take up skateboarding, they are all skills that are useful to learn. Other sports you could pick up include squash, badminton or hoverboarding, which are great fun to learn and will be a fun challenge to pick up!
Cooking is one of the most valuable life skills you can ever pick up. If you are a baking aficionado but can barely cook pasta, a skilled cook but can’t bake a cookie to save your life, or just want to improve your skills, cooking skills are something you will always be grateful for. There are many ways you can improve this skill, from taking an online course to practising at home in your kitchen. Start with simple dishes they move onto those that are more complex. It can be expensive to get all the ingredients at first, but once you have stocked up on the essential herbs and spices you won’t need to buy them again for a while.
Knitting and crocheting have a stigma around them that they are just for older people, yet this is far from the case. They are both valuable skills that will not only save you money on gifts for people when it comes to Christmas and birthdays but will also mean you can make yourself some beautiful pieces of clothing – win-win!
These are just three of the top hobbies that you should look into picking up in 2021. Whether you decide to get creative or get sporty (or both!), you won’t regret throwing yourself into something new. Remember all new skills can feel tricky at first, so don’t feel disheartened if it seems difficult at the beginning! Persevere and soon you will reap the benefits.
