Why Buying A 4 Berth Motorhome Is The Best Way To Holiday In 2021

*This is a collaborative post on hiring a 4 Berth Motorhome, but all thoughts and opinions are my own

I’ve almost settled with the fact that I may not get out of the country in 2021. And if I do it’s likely to be winter time. And I’m okay with that. But it’s turned my thoughts and attention to the options of holidaying in the UK. There’s so much on offer in the UK and places I’ve been meaning to explore but haven’t ticked off my list.

I’m sure loads of people will have the same thoughts so hotels and B&Bs are likely to be booked up or pretty expensive (or both). But there’s an alternative. An option that is flexible and means you can travel where you want when you want. And that would be buying a caravan or motorhome from a manufacturer like Bailey of Bristol.

Features of a 4 berth motorhome

We used to go on a lot of static caravan holidays when I was younger during the October half term. I remember visiting places like Southend, Skegness and Weymouth a lot during my childhood. But having a motorhome you can drive around means you can explore the country and not be tied down to one space.

Did you know that when we say the word berth, it means bed space? So a 4 berth motorhome has four beds in it. We actually hired a motorhome when we went to Glastonbury one year because we didn’t fancy camping and it was a 6 berth motorhome. We had a double bed at the back, a seating area that turned into another double bed, and two sleeping spaces above the driving area. It had everything we needed.

The number of travel seats isn’t necessarily the same as the number of berths in a motorhome. So you’ll want to ensure that you choose a motorhome that has enough travel seats and berths for your needs. Sometimes extra people will need to travel in a separate vehicle if you go for a 4 berth motorhome with just 2 travel seats, for example.

Upping the tech game of a motorhome

The current Bailey range of motorhomes from Bailey of Bristol is built with Alu-Tech construction. Alu-Tech is a new approach to bodyshell construction and uses an interlocking aluminium framework to clamp the body panels together. For someone like you and me, that means greater protection from the elements and the outside world. Great news for the UK when we get as much rain as we do.

So the shell is more robust and durable than anything else. With better-insulated panels improves the thermal performance of the bodyshell. All of this with no increase in cost to customers, or weight of the vehicle.

Why buying a 4 berth motorhome is the best way to get away this year

When restrictions are lifted and we are allowed to travel again, having a caravan or motorhome means you don’t have to come in contact with anyone else like you would in a hotel. You can cook for yourself and save money on going out all the time. Maybe you could make packed lunches for yourself and just eat out in the evening. Or as all Bailey motorhomes have a fully equipped kitchen, you could completely self cater and cook all your meals in the motorhome itself. And you can drive to different places and locations whenever you want.

Say you want to spend an extra night in one place because there are loads of things to do, you can. Or if a particular place doesn’t capture your attention as much you can move on quicker than if you’d booked into a hotel.

How you can buy a motorhome

Where visiting a retailer isn’t possible right now you can make use of Bailey’s Virtual Showroom and take a 360º tour of the vehicles. This way you can see the differences in reality and it may help you make a decision on your motorhome. There’s also the option to view caravans if that’s more your thing.

Bailey’s have lots more info on social distancing holidays you can use for inspiration.

Have you ever thought of hiring a 4 berth motorhome? Or another vehicle to holiday in?

I imagine motorhomes will be really popular going forward; even when the pandemic passes I think the way we travel might change quite a lot and staycations and road trips might become more popular.

I have often looked at these and dreamed of trips away, the only thing is the storing of them when not in use as we had friends who had one and it caused a lot of issues in the storing. Although they did not have the room for it when not in use

I definitely agree, we have been trying to book a holiday and everything seems totally too expensive or unavailable and having a 4 berth motorhome does sound like a great idea.
