Future Plans When It Comes To Travelling

Travelling is a bit of a sore subject at the moment. Most people haven’t been out of the country much in the past year, some at all. We managed to just about squeeze a week in Portugal when it was safe. But 2021 feels like it’s going to be just as tough. If the roadmap is anything to go by our restrictions will have eased by the end of June. And by the end of the summer every adult should have been vaccinated, so technically we can travel. But that depends on the rest of the world. So future plans for travelling become a little more tricky to predict.

I miss travelling and going on holiday so much, but I understand the risks. And in the grand scheme of things if I can’t go outside the UK until next year then so be it. It’s only two years out of my whole life. But it doesn’t stop me from dreaming. Here are my dreams for future plans when it comes to travelling.

Barcelona

I thought I’d start with a pretty much guaranteed trip. When I was feeling a bit down just before Christmas I bought me and Luke flights to Barcelona for May with the hope we’d still be able to go. Our near future plans won’t be happening now which is absolutely fine so I’ve moved our flights to next year. And when it gets closer to the time we’ll finalise the exact dates and re-book another hotel. I’m super keen to see the culture and do the touristy bits, but also relax on a beach as well.

Future plans to go to New York

I’m super lucky to have been to New York five times now, but I want to go back again for New Year. There are a few things on my bucket list to do in New York which revolve around the festive period like seeing the Rockafella tree, watching the ball drop in Time Square and seeing The Rockettes perform at Radio City. Plus it would be so much fun to do some Boxing Day shopping in NYC.

Iceland

Iceland was where I had hoped to go for my 30th birthday but we didn’t make it. It wasn’t due to COVID as I was lucky enough to get my birthday in January 2020 just before things got bad. But we were in the final stages of buying our house and it didn’t feel like the best thing to spend all this money on a fancy trip as we didn’t want to do this one on a budget. I still want to go around my birthday as January is a good option for seeing the northern lights etc, so maybe we’ll go on a future birthday.

There’s more chance of seeing the northern lights outside of the city so I love the idea of hiring a camper van like these from Cozy Campers to drive further out.

Future plans to go to New Zealand

This is one of those huge trips that me and Luke have been talking about doing for ages. Admittidly it’s unlikely to happen before we get married as we’re saving for that at the moment. But once we’re married we’d love to save and do a big three week trip to New Zealand. My uncle and cousin live there so we’d probably spend a bit of time with them, but there’s so much we want to do. Hobiton is definitely near the top of our list though.

Bali

This was the one trip I had planned for 2020 that got cancelled as opposed to rescheduled. And it’s not the first time I’ve missed out on a trip to Bali. I had booked to go on a Plus Size Travel tour with Kirsty Leanne who had arranged an amazing sounding trip through a travel company. Hopefully she’ll be able to plan a new trip there for a few years time so I can finally head to Asia and tick Bali off my list. I just want to try yummy foods, see what the country has to offer and relax on the beach.

I’ve been to New York, but not New York City, that is some place that I would really like to visit someday! I think it would be great!

I think as tourists we sometimes forget that New York and New York City are totally different and you can go to NY but not be in NYC x

I can’t wait until we can travel more freely once again. I’d love to visit Bali and explore the rest of south east Asia too.

An interesting choice of places to visit, very varied and different between them. Hopefully you will be able to visit them soon.
