*Items in this guide have been gifted to me, but all thoughts on gifts for a dad who wants nothing are my own
I find it completely mad that I’m writing this post all about Father’s Day as it means mid-June is just around the corner. It blows my mind how quickly this year has been going. But the nice thing is with the restrictions changing and easing we’re actually able to spend Father’s Day with our family this year. I’m really looking forward to being able to see my dad on the day, and even head inside if the weathers not nice.
My dad never knows what he wants when I ask for ideas and that’s why I created the gifts for a dad who wants nothing guide. I’m sure there are some of you out there who are in the same situation as me.
The first thing I wanted to feature was an activity from Treasure Trails*. You can pick up a self-guided treasure trail that will take you through hidden corners and backstreets of various towns, cities and villages around the UK. All you have to do is crack clues along the route to unlock stories and solve a mystery at the end. I love the idea of these as it encourages you to be outside and explore your local area. Plus chances are you’ll stumble across things or notice things you hadn’t before.
You can opt to get the digital version or a physical version like mine to guide you around the tour.
My dad is so proud of his garden, and rightfully so. And him and my mum spend a lot of tme out in the garden which is why some bits from the Henry Bell Wild Bird Care range would make a great Father’s Day present. The Heavy Duty Feeder* (£9.99) is a really smart looking bird feeder in a striking black finish. The feeder itself is strong and really easy to clean and refill, plus it has perch space for birds to rest on when they’re eating.
To go with the feeder we have the Henry Bell No Grow Mix* (£17.99) which is a blend of seeds, sunflower hearts and suet which is rich in nutrients for the birds. The bag is a whopping 12.55kg in size so it will last a long time, plus it’s reuseable to keep the feed fresh.
The products are available nationwide in 500 garden centres including Dobbies, and online through Food4wildbirds.
If you’re looking for gifts for a dad who wants nothing then welcome jinx the giraffe planter* (£28). The metal planter is suitable for indoor or sheltered outdoor spaces and will bring a smile to anyone’s face. I love having plants around the house and this planter just brightens up the space and keeps a smile on my face whenever I see it.
It’s a great size for a small potted plant, I’m thinking of trying to get something like a small fern or possibly a trailing plant to trailing down by his tail.
Over the past year, a lot of us have been getting more into crafting and making things and it’s something dads should be encouraged to do too. And this DIY Leather Cardholder kit* (£69) is a nice activity, but you also get to craft something that you’ll use in the end. The Artisans kit comes with everything you need to sew and create your own cardholder including the leather, clips, stitching needles and thread.
You can choose from tan, natural and red leather for the cardholder. And you can choose which colour stitching you want to use so you can really personalise it. My dad doesn’t like sitting down doing nothing, but having something like this to focus on will give him a good chance to relax but still having something to show for it.
I love buying both fun presents, but also practical gifts for a day who wants nothing. And Energy Dots have created a sleepDOT* (From £25) to help those who struggle to sleep. The sleepDOT emits a mix of soothing vibrations and is designed to slow down the daytime brainwaves to much-needed sleep frequencies to help you nod off quicker. Sleep is so important for both our physical and mental health and with most of us constantly connected our technology may be interfering with our ability to get a good nights sleep.
You can attach the sleepDOT to your headboard or close to your pillow to support a natural sleep cycle. It has an operating radius of 1 metre and runs indefinitely so it doesn’t need replacing.
Clothing is always a good shout for Father’s Day especially if your dad is like mine and rarely treats himself. Above I have the Pique Polo Shirt* (£30) in dark indigo. Polo shirts are a great staple for the wardrobe as they can be dressed up or down depending on the scenario. I opted for the dark polo as I loved the contrast of the white and orange across the top. And my dad doesn’t like anything too bright so this is enough colour for him.
The polo is super soft and made from sustainable textured cotton as part of Tog 24’s commitment to building their collection of clothes made from cotton grown using sustainable farming methods.
The other item I picked out from Tog 24 is this technical t-shirt* (£25) in pacific blue. Home workouts aren’t going anywhere and having the right clothing to work out at home is really important. The moisture-wicking properties in the top are designed to keep you cool when you start to build up a sweat.
But this technical t-shirt can also be paired with jeans for a casual look. And would be great for the summertime when it’s warmer as it’s lightweight and breathable.
In my mind, you can’t go wrong with a food-related item when looking for gifts for a dad who wants nothing. Because who doesn’t love some mixed sweeties?! I have the Movie Night Bundle* (£14) which features all of the best Pick n Mix you get at the cinema including my personal favourites strawbs, cola bottles, chocolate honeycomb and strawberry pencils.
If you don’t like the idea of a surprise though you can create your own bag of sweets. So you can pick all your dads favourites (and some for yourself while you’re there). There are loads of choices including chocolate, fizzy and gummies and plenty of gluten-free and vegan choices as well.
If Pick n Mix or sweets aren’t your dads thing how about a massive bar of Toblerone personalised with his name* (£12.99)? Toblerone always seems to be a gift item, something I’ll buy for my dad for Father’s Day or Christmas. But he never buys himself. But you can’t go wrong with the yummy chocolate.
You can add a name with up to 15 characters, but I kept it simple with just Dad. I know that as soon as my dad opens this he’s going to crack into it. And he’s going to enjoy every last piece.
If you’re stuck for what to buy your dad then browse through the large wine collection with Virgin Wines. And find a fancy bottle to celebrate the special day. I picked out Dad’s black pig wine* (£25.99) mainly because it seemed very appropriate for Father’s Day and the name intrigued me.
This particular wine is limited edition and comes in a gift tub with tasting notes which is a lovely touch. The Black Pig McLaren Vale Shiraz is one of the brands best-selling reds. And winemaker Steve and his team have produced this limited edition version which is a super-smooth red. And it’s vegan-friendly.
My dad likes good red wine. But he doesn’t drink it all the time it’s more of a special occasion drink which makes it perfect as a Father’s Day gift.
If your dad is more of an ale/ beer drinker then look no further than Shepherd Neame who offer some amazing collection boxes. I have the ultimate collection box* (£28.50) which features 12 bottles of beers of at least 10 different varieties so very little chance for duplication. The thing I love about this box is the variety. My dad and brother are massive fans of ales and beers and love trying new ones. So after taking some photos I pulled them out when they were around for an outdoor pizza party. And they loved them.
Firstly it was the novelty of trying new beers and sharing them with each other. But also finding new favourites. I know there were a few they both loved so they noted down the names of them to try again. If you know the kind of beers your dad likes then you can do a pick your own box of 12. Then you can choose exactly what comes in the box. You can browse all of the options in the store.
Everybody deserves a pamper every now and then. And having some nice bathroom bits is always a nice place to start because you don’t need to build up extra time, it’s something you do day-to-day anyway. ARRAN Sense of Scotland are a great place to look for some luxury bathroom goodies for your dad (or any man in your life). But they also do plenty of ladies bits so you can treat yourself while you’re at it.
I have both the Lochranza and Machrie shower gels* (£16) which make a great combo. Machrie is a clean, refreshing and crisp scent, great for the morning shower. It contains mineral qualities of sea salt and rockrose which will cleanse and nourish the skin. While the Lochranza has a subtle floral scent full of essential oils like patchouli and anise.

Aww, you’ve picked out some gorgeous gifts here, Rhian <3 I especially love the giraffe planter. My dad would go nuts for that! He's recently been diagnosed with cancer and the only thing he's interested in at the mo is his garden, so I'm definitely going to be buying him some bits and bobs he can use out there this year 🙂
