There are few things in life that bring me as much joy as home organisation tools and the thrill you get when you organise a particularly tough space. It may sound sad to some, but it’s extremely therapeutic. Plus I have the mindset that if my space is tidy then it helps my mind be tidy too.
I definitely think moving into a house has pushed my organisaing habits further. Now I have more rooms and more spaces to organise so the jobs last a lot longer. And for me, as some rooms in our house are unfinished I like to make the most of the ones that are complete.
Here are some of the organisation tools you need for ultimate home organising.
I bought this wrapping paper bag from Amazon a few years ago and it has been a game-changer. It has a large section that you can slide rolls of paper into. But the biggest thing is the three side pockets that it has where you can store all of the add ons. I have bows, ribbon, and tags in my pockets, but you could also store a selection of cards in there or some sellotape. Basically, anything that will help you when you need to wrap a present. It’s organisation tools like this that help you store things together that I love.
When we designed our Ikea kitchen we decided we wanted as many drawers as possible. Shelving in cupboards is great and necessary for some things, but it can be hard to see everything in one go. One of my requirements was having loads of organisation tools to keep the space as tidy and helpful as possible. And these spice jar inserts have been great for keeping all of our spices in order.
I love the fact that we can lay them down and always see what we have on display. I tend to always buy the same brand so the sizes are consistent. But I’d love to re-pot them all into their own fresh jars one day. If you don’t have drawers then a lazy susan can be really handy for making all of your spices and bottles more organised and accessible. And for smaller items then expandable shelves that can separate out items are super handy.
It wouldn’t be a post about organisation tools without mentioning clear storage boxes. We have so many different styles of boxes to fit any space we have. There are some under our bed to store extra items, I have boxes at the top of the wardrobe with surplus clothes, but the biggest use of them is in our loft.
Having a loft is a prized thing and it makes for amazing storage space. But there’s no point having the space if you have no idea where anything is or what’s in the boxes. Clear boxes mean you know what’s in each one when you categorise. We have boxes with old DVD cases in, some with holiday stuff, Christmas decorations, other seasonal items and so much more. If I’m buying a box that requires a specific size I tend to look around a selection of stores to see what the best options are. The best places to check are Amazon, George at Asda, The Range, Wilko, and Argos.
I got a label maker a few years back and it’s been one of those organisation tools that I didn’t realise I needed it until I had it. All of our clear containers of sugars and flours are labeled so we know what’s in each one. All of the boxes I have in the loft are labeled for ease. And so much more.
I have this Dynamo label maker which is totally digital and you just type what you want to print and hit print. It might not look as fancy as the retro ones you see, but I label for my convenience and not for them to be seen.

I really want a label maker I saw one recently and keep going on about them now, I will get one eventually and love the sound of the wrapping paper bag I need to go and look at these now
When we first moved into our house I was labelling up everything haha x
I need that! I used to have a Dymo label maker when I was in high school. Love how it helped me keep my stuff organized. I am going to get one now so I know (and remember) what I have in those boxes that I keep in the top shelf of my closet!
It’s so handy for those boxes where you can’t see what’s inside them x
I love these sorts of items. I do love to have all my items organised in a way I can find them easily. We have a label maker!!!!
The one thing I definitely need to invest in is that label maker, we used to have one but not anymore.
I love being organised and have found lots of tools and gadgets to help me over the years. I like the sound of the wrapping paper bag.
Some great tips here, but was not aware that there are wrapping paper bag! I currently use my large drawer and this does take up some space so will definitely be looking at getting the bag ordered for myself
The bag is such a game-changer to keep everything together x
I am awful at being organised, I have to admit I could really do with making some changes and getting boxes (clear is such a good idea) and labelling everything would make finding things easier to at the moment they are put in boxes and lost.
Labelling up boxes makes such a difference to know exactly what’s in everything x
I have a Cricut Maker so made my own storage jar labels, such a game changer.
I’ve been debating for ages whether to get a cricut x
I definitely need a wrapping paper holder – mine always ends up a mess before the next time I can use it! I love my spice jar holder though.
The wrapping paper holder has been a game changer x
I like the spice organiser and the wrapping paper bag is genius. I never know were to put my wrapping paper!
It’s one of those things most of us have laying around, but it just seems to get in the way x
