Movies, Vaccine Number One And A Trip Into London- June 2021 Overview

Bad Axe in Boxpark Wembley

Last month I talked about finally having some plans, and in June 2021 that seemed to ramp up a bit more. The month has been really strange as half of it was filled with boiling hot sunshine where I struggled to sleep. But the other half has continued to be grey and rainy. The world can’t make up its mind.

But me and Luke got our first vaccine in June 2021 which was very exciting. The second the government announced that people 31/32 could book theirs I was straight on the website. We were both very lucky and other than a heavy achy arm we didn’t get any side effects. But we’ll see how we feel after our second one at the end of August.

Back to Cineworld

I went back to the cinema for the first time last month and in June 2021 I went to the cinema twice. We’re still getting used to locations from our new place as we don’t have a cineworld super local. The Watford one is about half an hour away, as is the Milton Keynes one. So me and Luke headed to MK to see the Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard and the cinema was quite nice. The movie was stupid in all the right ways and I enjoyed it.

I also saw the unlimited screening of In The Heights which I did enjoy. But I do think it was a little longer than it needed to be. We were in the cinema for hours! I want to start going back to the cinema more now more releases are starting up. July marks Black Widow coming out and I can’t wait.

Bottomless Brunch

June 2021- The month of friends

Quite a few of my friends moved over the last year or so and due to COVID we’ve not been able to visit. But in June a few of us made it round one friends house. It was so nice to see the girls in a relaxed setting and it was good to be nosy as well. This happened on one of the super hot days so we went for a walk by the canel but I was melting!

Then later that month (also during the sunshine) I went for bottomless brunch for a friends birthday. I’ve missed brunch and you can’t beat a bottomless brunch. I may have had quite a few cocktails but it was so worth it.

Then finally I headed in for my first London daytrip since pre pandemic. I’ve been in a few times for meals with friends, but never to do things. The day started off with Dishoom breakfast which is one of my favourites. And then we headed to the Victoria & Albert Museum to the Alice exhibition which was really good. I’m a bit Alice in Wonderland obsessed so I loved exploring the artwork and inspiration, and then seeing the impact it’s had on the modern world.

June 2021- The month of all the events

June is always a busy month for us because not only is it Father’s Day but it’s both Luke’s mums and sisters birthday. So we had lots of really nice family time and meals out. Just meeting up for special events and having dinner together is a novelty that won’t wear off. I missed it so much last summer and won’t be taking it for granted.

Me and Luke did an activity day at Boxpark in Wembley with my brother and his fiance. We started off with axe throwing which I wasn’t particularly great at. And then we ended with mini golf which I somehow won. I have no idea how that fluke happened but I milked it for all I could.

June 2021 was a bit exhausting just because I headed into the office around 5 times over a 3 week period. And after working from home exclusively for over a year has taken some getting used to. I’ve only been in for a particular project so after next week I probably won’t be in again for a few months. But it’s been nice to meet and see people and find some working normality.

Ottoman Hands

New brand discovery

I’m all for accessories and ways to jazz up an outfit and the latest brand I’ve discovered is Ottoman Hands*. I’m a big fan of anything a bit unusual, so when Ottoman Hands reached out to work together I was very excited. The brands designs unite eastern and western heritage and is inspired by the traditions of the Ottoman Empire. And each piece is handcrafted by highly skilled artisans in the Istanbul workshop and made from 21ct gold plated brass.

I picked up three items including a Cancer zodiac necklace complete with moonstone charm which is so pretty. The charms are solid and have a good weight to them without making the necklace feel too chunky. It was two different clasp fastenings at the back so you can change the length of the necklace depending on what you’re wearing it with which I love. Then I picked up two pairs of earrings including the Bellezza Mother of Pearl front hoop earrings which are really nice and chunky so a good everyday piece of jewellery. Coupled with the Bora Bora Shell and pearl drop earrings which are dainty and beautiful, perfect for any special occasion.

How was your June 2021?

It feels so crazy yet wonderful being able to go out again! Looks like you’ve had a wonderful time and the food looks great!

Sounds like a fun month! I saw the Hitman’s Bodyguard’s wife and only thought it was okay. In The Heights, I must agree, was way too long! And I felt many of the story themes within that movie actually contradicted itself. I look forward to hearing more of your movie opinions.

I can’t wait to see Black Widow, but more than likely will wait for the DVD. And I am hating the weather at the moment. Here is is cloudy, with off and on heavy down pours, but is is still really warm.

It’s must be so nice to be seeing people out and about again. Things are easing a bit more here now but I don’t think we will get to visit family in the uk until next year. Love the jewellery from Ottoman Hands
