Top UK Holiday Destinations For This Summer

Isles of Scilly

*This is a collaborative post on the best UK holiday destinations for this summer

There’s still a lot of uncertainty around out-of-country travel. Even though adults who have had double vaccines don’t have to isolate from a green or amber country other countries’ travel still comes with some risk. You never know if the other countries’ restrictions have to change, and you have to take tests on certain days. While I’d love to go abroad I’m happy to wait until next year. A sentiment a lot of other people seem to share. So summer 2021 is the perfect time to choose UK holiday destinations for your trip away.

There’s so much to see in the UK from beautiful beaches and landscapes to busy city metropolitans. So whatever you want from your holiday you’ll find it without having to leave the country. If you’re heading on a UK holiday this summer use ebooking to make a hotel reservation so you’re organised in advance. Here are some of the top UK holiday destinations for this summer.

Isles of Scilly

Sitting on a beach, sipping a cocktail on the Isles of Scilly and you’d forget that you’re only 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall. The islands are hailed as the UK’s answer to the Caribbean and it’s no wonder why with white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. Plus due to its location it has a slightly milder climate so more chance of building up your tan. There are 140 isles in total but only five are inhabited (St Martin’s, St Mary’s, St Agnes, Bryher, and Tresco). St Mary’s is the largest, although only three miles across at its widest part.

You can flit between the isles by using regular ferries to see what each isle has to offer. Explore each one and search out puffins and Atlantic grey seals that live close by. Stargaze out at the dark night skies, or just relax on the beach enjoying the sunshine. Just make sure you book your hotel with plenty of time as it’s a popular holiday spot. This is a destination that’s high on my wishlist!

Top UK holiday destinations- Cotswolds

If you’re looking for somewhere with all the pretty picturesque views then the Cotswolds are for you. It’s actually a huge area of 800 square miles across Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire. So there are loads of places to explore including Castle Combe which is hailed as England’s prettiest village. You’ve almost certainly seen it on Instagram somewhere. There are loads of little villages, grand stately manor homes, and countryside to explore. It’s super easy to get to, but even though it sits between three major motorways and plenty of train lines it still feels rural. There are no big cities or towns, just beautiful villages.

Whether you’re after a country house stay, a cool boutique hotel, or cosy country B&B, The Cotswolds have you covered. Cotswold is another of the UK holiday destinations that are high on my list.

Arundel Castle

Sussex

If you’re a Downton Abbey fan then this might be the place for you. You can ride the Bluebell Railway which runs for 11 miles from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead, stopping at Horsted Keynes Station which features on the show. If you’re like me and have never seen the show then Arundel Castle might be more up your street. Sussex is a great spot if you don’t want to stay in one place as you have Brighton, South Downs National Park, sandy beaches at Camber Sands, and beautiful medieval towns like Rye. Plus it’s only a short journey from the capital if you don’t have many days to use for your trip.

UK holiday destinations- Norfolk

The county of Norfolk offers a whole range of places to visit from watching the seals and their pups to windmill spotting and unspoiled countryside. There are country houses, medieval churches, gardens and nature reserves, and steam railways galore. You can explore the county by train and be amazed by the views. Plus one of England’s 10 designated National Parks -The Broads- is located here.

Whether you want to cycle, walk, hike or explore by car there’s plenty to see in Norfolk.

Roman Baths in Bath

Bath

I had to finish off this UK holiday destinations post with somewhere I’m heading to later this year; Bath. You can’t get more a more beautiful small city than Bath and it’s the perfect place if you’re looking for a long weekend away, or a short mid-week city break. It’s easily accessible even if you don’t drive, and to be honest you may want to leave the car at home (or at your hotel) as parking can be a bit mad. It’s perhaps best known for the Roman Baths you can explore, and the Thermae Bath Spa where you can relax in the warm mineral-rich waters much like the Romans did 2,000 years ago.

But there’s so much more to Bath with beautiful Georgian crescents, galleries, museums, and independent shopping.

We want to go to Bath this year – it sounds like a great place for a spa getaway! Another plan we have is to go to the Isle of Wight – riding a fairy and seeing an island is something we want to do.
