Exploring London Over The Rest Of 2021- Bucket List Revisit

Me at Kew Gardens in one of the indoor conservatories

I love exploring London. I’ve lived pretty close to the capital for all of my life and nothing makes me happier than wandering the streets, being a tourist and soaking up culture. You’d think after so many trips I’d have ticked everything off there is to do. But you’d be wrong. I’ve been doing these London bucket lists for ages, and now I’ve started going back in I thought I’d revisit my latest list and see how I’ve gotten on.

Visit Kew Gardens

I’d been to the Christmas light experience at Kew Gardens, but I’d never experienced it fully. That is until last month when me and Luke made a trip. We managed an hour of exploring before the heavens opened and we got drenched. But it was a fun morning being out in nature and seeing the beautiful plants.

Have breakfast at Dishoom

This is something I’ve now ticked off my list twice. I first headed to Dishoom for breakfast last March before everything changed, and this was for a solo trip. Then I headed back in June with a friend to get their breakfast naans which are so good. Next up I want to go there for dinner.

Exploring London to do the Tower Bridge experience

This is one of the biggest tourist attractions in London and something most people do when exploring London, but I’ve never done it. I’m keen to go when it’s going to be a clear day so I can look out on London. But the weather is never a given. It would be nice to add it onto a London trip this year, but this might have to be one to roll over to next Spring time.

Do a walking movie tour of London

I’ve had the superhero walking tour of London on my bucket list for a while. But they only happen around once a month, and stopped for a long time due to the pandemic. So I’m keeping my eyes on dates to see when I can get this booked in. It’s a 2.5 hour tour around London to see some of the epic places superhero movies have been filmed in. They’re probably locations I’ve been to but getting a guide and hearing about the movies while there sounds really interesting.

Exploring London for food- Japes

I did a whole post about places I wanted to eat in London and Japes was at the top of my list. They’re the first place to bring Chicago style deep-dish pizza to London and I headed there last month for dinner. I hadn’t planned to go there but it was close to a theatre I was going to so I thought why not. The pizza may not look that big, but it’s deep and even I struggled to finish it. I got the margarita with a parmesan crust and the cheese pulls were dreamy

Yes it’s cliche, yes it’s touristy, and yes I’d get the obligatory photo in Chinatown. But they look so good. Every time I’ve been before the queue has been so long but I’m willing to wait for it. As it’s reasonably close to some theatres I’m hoping I can fit it in next time I go into London for a show.

Sketch

Sketch is a place that’s been on my exploring London bucket list for blooming ages. Originally I had the afternoon tea on my radar, but now I’m thinking breakfast instead as the menu looks amazing. I want to go more for the dining experience and decor than any particular food that’s on offer.

New things to add to my exploring London list

I’ve only been to London once and had just 2 days, so it wasn’t much of a trip. That was also over 10 years ago. I so badly want to go back to experience all these things!

I’d love to go on the superhero walk. I’m sure that would be interesting to see where movies have been filmed.
