Most of us spend the majority of our downtime in our living rooms. But if yours is in need of revamping, you may not want to spend much time there at all.

The good news is, living room renovations don’t require a massive overhaul – they don’t even have to break the bank. Simple changes can make a huge difference to the room.

Whether your space is large or small, here are five tips to help you craft a lounge you’ll love!

Consider the Flooring

Carpets might be warm and cosy in those winter months but cleaning them can be a pain.

Hardwood floors are a popular alternative; these can add value to your home, but shelling out to have them fitted might not give you much of a return on your investment – if you’re lucky enough to already have them, be sure to care for them properly!

For a compromise, try laminate or vinyl flooring with a large rug over the top to add some comfort and texture to the space.

Think Outside the Box

When we think of living rooms, the first items that tend to come to mind are sofas and coffee tables.

However, it’s important that you cater to the space that you have. If your room is small, then trade your coffee tables for elegant end tables instead.

This will open up the room and make navigation a little easier – no more stubbed toes while carrying a drink!

New Doors

Replacing your living room door is such an easy fix that will make a big difference!

While a new door is just a subtle alteration, it’s surprisingly effective for improving the look of your space. Oakwood Doors are experts at artisan entryways, and so consider their range of glass-panel internal doors; these beautiful designs can create striking patterns of light!

Strategic Mirrors

Strategically placed mirrors are a great addition to any renovation project, especially in smaller spaces where they give the illusion that the room is bigger than it really is.

If you’re after a touch of elegance, then shop around for something antique!

Second-hand Furniture

Speaking of antique – or maybe just preloved – opting for second-hand furniture over a trip to Ikea is an excellent way to add a little bit of character to your living room.

Aside from a variety of antique shops out there, sites like Vinterior are great places to find vintage furniture – and how great is that name?

Contrary to what sofa adverts would have you believe, your furniture doesn’t have to match. In fact, when it doesn’t, you’ll inject a bit of personality into the room, making it look as loved as it really is!

You deserve a comfortable space that you’ll want to unwind in, so take the time to really plan out your living room renovation!
