Must- Listen To Podcasts When You Want To Relax

Podcast

Podcasts are defined as a collection or series of audio files, where each individual recording is known as a podcast or episode. A podcast is typically hosted by an individual or panel of individuals who lead a conversation, share stories, or report on the news. And there’s a podcast for absolutely everything, whatever interests and entertains you. And they’re only getting more popular with well-known celebs and influencers launching their own.

Podcasts are a great way to escape and relax. Part audiobook, part radio show, they’re a great way to while away the time. Whether you’re driving, doing the housework, or relaxing on the beach. And that’s exactly what I did last week when I was in Portugal. I had a massive stack of books to read, but for parts of the trip, I just wanted to close my eyes, lay in the sun, and be entertained.

But how do you choose what to listen to?! On Spotify alone, there are over 2.9 million podcasts available which is mind-boggling. Established tech brand Audio-Technica has launched a Podcast Personalities campaign designed to help you find your next podcast listen. The finder quiz will help find a podcast based on your personality.

Here are some of my must-listen-to podcasts when you want to relax or switch off.

Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster

First of all the combo of Ed Gamble and James Acaster is incredible. I absolutely love both of these guys as comedians in their own right. And they just bounce off each other with such ease.

The premise of Off Menu is each episode the pair have a guest who is invited into the magical restaurant where they can choose their favourite starter, main course, side dish, dessert, and drink a part of their dream menu. It’s hilarious, the guests are fantastic and there’s a foodie element, so what’s not to love?! They’ve had some great guests from Ainsley Harriot and Bimini Bon Boulash to Ed Sheeran and Corey Taylor

Ctrl Alt Delete with Emma Gannon

I read Emma Gannon’s book Ctrl Alt Delete when it first came out and found myself nodding along to absolutely everything. Emma is a very similar age to me in her early to mid-thirties and I really connect with her.

Ctrl Alt Delete is described as not a traditional career podcast, it’s a podcast for people who’ve looked at their interests to shape the work they do. There are over 370 episodes so there are a lot of different guests and topics. From Nick Hornby talking about getting published and dealing with rejection through to Laura Bates on whether we need internet police.

Shagged, Married, Annoyed with Chris & Rosey Ramsey

Another one hosted by a comedian here and another blooming hilarious podcast. Chris Ramsey is a comedian and him and Rosey is his wife, and the pair chat about life, relationships, parenting, annoyances and so much more. And they’re just so honest about everything, there’s no sugar-coating, but it makes the show hilarious. They turned the podcast into a book in Autumn 2020 which I also listened to and absolutely loved.

This is a super popular podcast, regularly hitting no1 in the charts and winning awards. But if you want something easy to listen to and just downright funny this is the one for you.

I do not listen to podcasts and keep telling myself I need to do this, I do love the sound of the shagged, married and annoyed podcast as nothing as true as a married couple talking

I never thought about podcasts for relaxing. I always think about them as productivity. The foodie one would be great for me as a food blogger!

I used to think that too, but it’s something nice to put on when you’re cleaning, or just pottering around the house x

It’s a habit I’d like to make. In Italy there is not much the tradition of podcasts, there are few and we are not great listeners of the same.

I will hold my hands up and say I have never listened to a PodCast. My husband watches Joe Rogan’s ones on YouTube but personally I have never really considered it.

To be honest I hadn’t listened to one before a few years ago and even then I don’t as much as I’d like x
