When designing a bathroom from scratch, it’s natural to focus on priorities like layout, appliances, and style in general. However, as most of us find out pretty quickly, the best renovation decisions often end up being the small ones. That’s not to say, of course, that you won’t be glad for knocking down that wall or putting your shower where it is, but things like your bathroom countertops and your tile choices can tie the room together, and are likely to become the things that you love most about this space.

That’s why, instead of overlooking the small stuff, you need to spend ample time deciding on the right finishes, and more importantly, the right materials, to finally get all elements of your design right. For a stylish modern bathroom, natural materials like stone are proving especially worthwhile. The question is, which stone is best for a bathroom that you can believe in for years to come?

What Stone Is Best For Your Bathroom?- Marble

Famously durable and stain-resistant polished marble helps homeowners to enjoy the fantastic strength that makes stone a tempting bathroom choice in the first place, making this a great option for a bespoke bathroom countertop that will last for many years. Regular cleaning and proper sealing can especially help to avoid unwanted stains, while the elegant class finish of these marble additions is sure to help you get that spa-style bathroom you’ve always dreamed of. Despite being slightly more pricey, high-end marble solutions are an especially worthy investment as they require less day-to-day care, and can always ensure that this is a space you won’t ever want to leave.

Granite

As one of the hardest, more durable stones known to man, granite also deserves its place on your list of bathroom considerations. With great heat tolerance and surfaces that are almost impossible to scratch, this low-maintenance stone can look especially great on either your bathroom countertops, your tiles, or even your vanity unit. While granite can be dark, its satisfyingly earthy natural appearance can still create a striking bathroom visual when offset with the right lighting, accessories, and a few potted plants to brighten things up.

What Stone Is Best For Your Bathroom?- Quartz

Unlike the other stones mentioned, quartz is engineered using ground-up stone materials and resin and is thus an extremely low maintenance compromise for a natural-looking bathroom. While this man-made element can be off-putting to some, many find that quartz still provides the benefits of a natural finish, but with far more uniform manufacturing in general. Plus, unlike other stones (including marble and granite), quartz is non-porous and less susceptible to staining without specific ongoing treatments. That said, with poor heat resistance and a slightly less earthy look, this isn’t an obvious choice for everyone.

Sweating the small stuff within your renovation is guaranteed to provide the best finish you could hope for. As such, it’s about time you started thinking about which stone would be best able to meet your needs for beautiful countertops, tiles, and beyond in your new bathroom.
