Aren’t Men The Hardest People To Buy For? Fathers Day Guide 2022

Dad donuts

In just a few day’s time it’s going to be June and I’m still trying to wrap my head around that. And being almost June means it’s time to think about Father’s Day. Whether you’re buying for your own dad, a father figure or something for your partner on behalf of your kids/ cats etc here are some Fathers Day gift ideas.

One thing I don’t think you can go wrong with are edible treats. Something sweet and tasty, and this box of Dapper Dad Donuts* (£15.90) is a great option. You get nine donuts in the box which makes this such a good price. In the box, you get ring donuts dipped in either milk or white chocolate and they’re topped with chocolate curls, dapper dad faces or an edible message.

The donuts were really tasty and because you get nine donuts chances are they’ll be shared. If you’ve thought about Fathers Day a little too last minute you can get next day delivery if you order before 4 pm.

Readly

For the dad who loves to read

My dad is absolutely obsessed with gardening magazines. He also loves a good food and drink magazine, and he used to read GQ all the time. But regularly buying multiple magazines can not only be expensive but take up a lot of space. And that’s why a Readly subscription is such a good idea.

There are over 6,000 titles including both magazines and newspapers (national and regional) so there will always be something to read from The Guardian to Retro Gamer, and from BBC Good Food to Wired. Users get unlimited reading to all of the titles and there’s an offline mode available where you can download up to 500 editions, perfect if you’re travelling. You can log in and read at home through a tablet or laptop, or on the go through your smartphone.

Whether your dad wants to read about a new hobby, keep track of the latest news or get inspiration for meals, DIY or more a subscription will keep him entertained. And for Father’s Day, there are 3 months for the price of two offer which works out at less than £20.

Tacklements condiments

For the dad who loves a condiment

Back in 1970 Tracklements founder William Tullberg found a recipe for whole grain mustard in an old 17th-century diary. He attempted to make the mustard himself and that’s where the brand started. This went on to become the UK’s first Wholegrain Mustard which was sold in Harrods back in 1972.

It may have started with wholegrain mustard but loads of new additions have joined since then including some of the bits I have such as sweet mustard ketchup, piccalilli, spitfire chilli mustard and caramelised onion marmalade. All of the products are made with the highest quality, natural ingredients and they’re handmade in small batches. The company know the origins of all of its ingredients and work hand-in-hand with British farmers and spice growers from all over the globe.

My dad loves something spicy so he was thrilled with the spitfire chilli mustard. Whereas I was most excited by the caramelised onion marmalade as it works so well on a cheese bagel!

If you’re not sure what to go for there are loads of different gift boxes and bundles to choose from.

Rye Whiskey

Fathers Day gifts for the whiskey lover

This little bottle is from a special sixth batch of Oxford Rye Whiskey in a limited edition flask. You may not be able to buy this exact bottle (unless you go to their on-site Oxford store) but you can grab bigger ones in their online store.

At The Oxford Artisan Distillery responsible farming is always first up as they take their time regenerating the land. The grain used in this Oxford Rye Whiskey was harvested in Autumn 2017 and contains a diverse range of grain. It features 90% maslin (a mix of 70% rye and 20% wheat from being grown together in the same field), and 10% heritage malted barley. Fermentation for this batch took place over six days resulting in the whiskey you can now buy.

The whiskey will take you on a journey as it opens with a fruity aroma of berries and banana. Then a nutty, chocolatey root with leather and tobacco deep within and a touch of spearmint and smoke. Then it finishes with peppermint, peppercorn and strawberry yoghurt. Quite a unique blend.

My dad (and most males in my family) love a good whiskey so a nice unique bottle like this would be great for anyone who falls into the same category.

Fred Perry polo

For the fashionable dad (or just the one who needs some new clothes in his life)

I don’t know about the men in your life but my dad rarely ever buys himself clothes. So I always tend to find for Fathers Day, birthdays or Christmas’ he ends up getting clothes. And he’s always really happy with that.

For Fathers Day 2022 I picked up this Fred Perry Polo* (£65) from Mainline Menswear. It’s in this beautiful burgundy colour which I love (and I know my dad will too). And it’s one of those versatile polos that can be dressed down with jeans and trainers, or dressed up with trousers. It’s a super simple design with the Fred Perry logo embossed on the chest, two buttons and white-tipped detail around the collar and short sleeves.

I don’t think you can go wrong with something like this. But if Fred Perry isn’t quite right for your dad Mainline Menswear do so many different brands that you can pick up everything you need in one place.

Enesco nightmare and alice in wonderland

For the pop culture lover

I’m sure we all know someone who is obsessed by a particular Disney movie, or can’t stop watching Harry Potter. And that’s where Enesco comes in as they’ve been designing, manufacturing and distributing gifts for over 60 years. And they have a massive choice of popular licensed collaborations in their portfolio of products.

If you know someone who just can’t let Halloween go then the Zero figurine* (£48) might be the best choice. Coming from the Disney Traditions collection you can pay homage to their favourite Disney movie. For something a little more colourful the White Rabbit Figurine by Disney Britto* (£24) would make a good addition in any household. Everything from Mickey Mouse to The Lion King is covered in the range.

There’s also items from DC to choose from if your dad is a superhero lover. Or for the Harry Potter fanatic how about a Gringotts Vault Money Bank* (£32) which is a subtle nod to the movie without being too obvious. If Gringotts is good enough to store wizards’ money in then it’s good enough for mine.

Yoda door mat

Fathers Day presents for the Star Wars lover

If you’re looking for a cool yet quirky Father’s Day present, Red Candy is where you need to look.

Luke is a bit Star Wars obsessed so this Yoda Doormat* (£16.99) was his early Father’s Day present from the cats. Yes, I am the sort of person to buy presents from the cats because why not?!

The mat itself is a nice size and thickness to be a great protector as you come into the door. Although wiping your feet on Yoda’s face to remove any debris is a weird thought. Plus what’s not to love about fan favourite and Jedi Master Yoda?!

Spaceman storage pot

More Father’s Day goodies from Red Candy

Red Candy brings the goods again with this luna storage pot* (£21) which is seriously cool. The large ball is designed to look like the moon with an open front so you can store things in it. And the little astronaut is magnetized to sit on the top and look like he’s sat on the moon looking down. There’s even a small bulb inside to light it up.

Whether your dad needs a space to dump his keys or change into, or he just likes displaying cool items this is something I’d love to have out on display.

Welsh cakes

Treat your dad to some yummy treats

My family are part Welsh so welshcakes were something we used to have quite often as kids. And they’re something my dad especially loves. So this beautiful Cariad welshcake gift box* (£13) is a great treat that comes with 10 freshly baked heart-shaped welshcakes. This gift box is the perfect way to showcase some traditional Welsh baking using only the finest ingredients including Welsh butter and Welsh free-range eggs.

The box is letterboxed sized so you don’t have to worry about the person at home when they receive it. The welshcakes themselves were soft, buttery and tasted like they’d been freshly baked earlier that day. But they’re super moreish so if you give them as a present you probably won’t get a look in yourself.

Tile tracker

Fathers Day gifts for someone who loses things

Now when Tile reached out to me about my Father’s Day guide it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. About a month ago my parents went to Edinburgh and their suitcase was mislaid on the way home. It turned out to still be in Edinburgh and it took about five days before my parents had it returned. But with a tracker like the Tile tracker they’d probably have been able to see its location.

The Tile Pro* (£29.99) is a streamlined small device that you attach to your keys or bag, or put inside a suitcase. Then you can use the app to help you locate it. If it’s simply your keys you’ve mislaid in your house you can click ‘find’. Then your device will ring allowing you to find your keys/another item. But if the item is further out the app can help you view its most recent location on a map based on the based time it was either with you or the last time the app was able to locate it.

The pro has the longest Bluetooth range of all of the Tile products at 400ft/ 120m. It also has the loudest sound to help you find your items.

Arlo security camera

For the dad who loves a bit of tech

Home security is so important to keep you, your family and your space safe. And having a security camera will help with your peace of mind, and make any intruders think again.

The Arlo essential spotlight camera* (£130) covers everything you’d want from a home security camera. It’s 100% wire-free and weather-resistant so you can put it where ever suits your needs. Plus with no wires, it has super simple installation. It has a built-in security siren and spotlight which can be triggered automatically when motion is detected. Or you can set them off manually via the app to deter intruders.  Through the app, you can have 2-way audio to both listen and speak to visitors.

We actually set ours up indoors as we have outdoor security cameras. But this one covers our kitchen/ diner which is the biggest space in our home and somewhere you’d hit whether you came through the front or back of the house. Not only are we covered if intruders made it into our house, but we can keep an eye on our cats while we’re out.

Peaky blinders groomer

Grooming inspired Fathers Day gift

Wahl have just released a collaboration with Peaky Blinders so if you’re dad is a fan of the show this 7 in 1 multigroomer gift set would make for a great present. The set comes with a rechargeable trimmer and three attachments to cover all your grooming needs. The set allows for bread trimming, close trimming, detail trimming, edging, stubble maintenance, and ear and nose hair remover.

The attachments include a standard trimmer, vertical trimmer, and ear & nose head. The set also comes with a storage bag and hydrating moisturiser to soothe and replenish all skin types. Once charged you get 120 minutes of usage time so it’s great to take if you’re going away.

House of marley earphones

For the music-loving dad

We’re big fans of House of Marley in this household and both me and Luke use their wireless earbuds ourselves. My dad loves listening to music when he’s out in the garden pretending like he’s Alan Titchmarsh. And doesn’t music make everything better?!

These Champion true wireless earbuds* (£59.99) are a great in-ear option and really reasonably priced for wireless options. The Champion earbuds have been made from sustainable materials so they’re an eco-conscious alternative to more traditional earbuds. You get an eight hour battery life from the buds, going up to 28 hours with the case. The case itself is really compact so great for travelling and going out and about. The buds are both sweat and water-resistant so if your dad likes to exercise then these would be a great option.
