Over Halfway Through The Year Now – June 2022 Overview

I complained about the lack of sunshine in May, but thankfully we’ve had some lovely days in June 2022. Although how we’re over half way through the year is quite scary. Halloween items are starting to come out in Homesense and although that makes me happy I do feel like this year has gone too quickly.

Back to all the live music throughout June 2022

It feels like live music really kicked in during June which was really nice. At the start of the month over the platinum jubilee weekend I had two shows in Hatfield Park. Starting with You Me At Six playing ‘Sinners Never Sleep’ in full which was incredible. I forgot how much I loved that album. And then it was time for Slamdunk Festival which was a super summery day and such a fun one. There weren’t any bands I was that fussed about beforehand but I saw some great sets.

Then on one of the hottest days I saw A Day To Remember at Kentish Town Forum over what was Download Festival weekend. The show was absolutely amazing and one of the best things I’ve seen in ages. The following week me and Luke went to see Icelands 2020 and 2021 Eurovision entry Dadi Fryer. The show was just so fun and a really good vibe, and another top level show.

Then the month ended with the Hella Mega tour with Weezer, Fall Out Boy and Green Day. This is my final rescheduled thing from during COVID and worth the wait. We were mainly there for Fall Out Boy who were amazing, so we stayed for about two thirds of Green Day’s set which was still good.

A duo of theatre shows and movies in July 2022

I booked reasonably last minute tickets to see Cinderella before it closed in London. The cast were really good, although I was disappointed that I went a night that Carrie Hope Fletcher wasn’t playing. But I do see why it has closed as the songs and the plot was just a bit messy.

Then I saw the Bat Out Of Hell UK tour when it headed to Milton Keynes. I was a bit confused after the first half but it was a really good show and the main guy had such an incredible voice for the songs.

Movie wise I saw the latest Jurassic World movie at the start of the month. Yes it wasn’t as good as the first of the trilogy, but it was a fun movie. Then we also saw Lightyear which I really enjoyed. But when you think about Buzz Lightyear toys it’s a toy based on a movie, based on a toy, based on a movie. So it takes some thinking about.

Work outings

I had a few work related outings in June 2022 outside of going into the office. We had a working brunch at Dishoom because we can, and it’s a team favourite. Then in the final half of the month I got to attend an awards ceremony where we were up for four awards. The night itself was really fun and we won two of the awards which was great. It did happen while the train strikes were on which did make travel a bit harder. But Luke drove me all the way into London which I was very thankful for.

Then the month ended with a team day at my manager’s house where she cooked some amazing Venezuelan food for us. I feel so thankful that I have such a lovely team to work with.

Food and explorations in June 2022

Over the jubilee weekend me and my friend headed to Bletchley Park which was so interesting to walk around. We spent about 3 hours wandering around and I can’t wait to go back again and check out the bits I missed. We then headed to a Greek restaurant close by in Milton Keynes that I had been eyeing up. I had another couple of meals out at Pizza Pilgrims and Nando’s and then a fun BBQ for Father’s Day.

I’d been eyeing up a new pair of Dr Martens for a while and me and Luke headed up the Factory outlet store in Wellingborough which is where they’re actually made. And of course I came out with a beautiful new pair, although it’s not quite the right time of the year to be wearing them.

I hadn’t had a solo London day for a while so I had a lovely day out in London near the end of June 2022. I started off with a lovely breakfast at Egg Slut followed by exploring the Disney exhibition at the Wallace Collection. The exhibition was really interesting, but quite short. I then went to see the St Dunstan in the East Church remains which doesn’t look like it’s in the centre of London. The rest of the day was spent walking around and doing some window shopping.

All things house and pet related

We finally got back into doing our front garden so it’s all de-weeded and our flower bed now has some beautiful flowers in them. Now I’m trying to keep them all alive and thriving and have to keep reminding myself to go out and water them while it’s warmer. My dad is helping us do the front so next step is to dig up where the turf will go and neaten it all out. Then we can order some soil and turf to make it look much neater.

I’ve started letting the boys outside for the first time and they’re slowly starting to explore. They’re still not 100% sure about the grass yet but it’s been nice to see them outside. My brother and sister-in-law got a puppy a few weeks ago so after his vaccines they brought him round to meet his cousins. Thor was not interested in the slightest, but Loki was very curious.
