Much like every other month this year, October 2022 disappeared in a flash. And personally, I think October has been the busiest month of them all, even though I’ve not done as much. It may be because my Christmas gift guides are in full swing, and I always find they take up quite a lot of time. But I do love doing them.
I had a triple whammy in October 2022. Gig, tick. Cinema trip, tick. Theatre show, tick.
The month started with a reunion show from We Are The Ocean in London. They were one of those bands I saw a lot during my late teenage/ early 20s, and the show was amazing. It was full of people my age reliving their youth and loving life.
Then me and Luke headed to the cinema to see Black Adam. I enjoyed the movie, I loved that he was an inherently flawed superhero. But I did think that they tried to cram a lot of things into one movie, so it felt long.
Then the month ended with a trip to the theatre for a burlesque show. It was a really fun show full of some super-talented acts, and something I’d like to see more of.
I headed to three different friends’ places for catch-ups and food, which was so nice. A busy month of visiting, and then I also had a really fun day out in London with two of my friends. We started in a really nice restaurant by Borough Market, and we ended up in a board game cafe playing Monopoly and Cluedo. Can you believe I’d never played Cluedo before then?!
And it wasn’t just friends. At the very start of the month, it was my nans birthday so our whole family went out for a nice meal. Although Luke was super tired as he had driven to Edinburgh the day before for a job and then driven all the way back before our meal.
Somehow I have read 77 books so far this year, and I really want to get to 100 by the 31st of December. I don’t know how realistic that is but I may just read the whole Christmas break to get there.
But October was filled with a few bookish events starting with a talk in London with the queen; Taylor Jenkins Reid. Her latest book Carrie Sotto is back (which, shamefully, I’ve not read yet) has come out, and we got to hear her talk for about 80 minutes about the book, her writing, and so much more. It was insightful and empowering and really made me want to write a book. Although I have no idea what I’d write about.
Then nearer the end of the month, I went on a book-shopping trip with my best friend. We hit up a load of different bookshops in London- mainly ones we hadn’t been to- to get inspiration and ultimately increase my TBR pile even more. I had such a fun day, and I came back with eight new books I can not wait to read them all. We even snuck in an indulgent trip to Italian Bear Chocolate which was insane. But I definitely had a sugar crash afterwards.
During October, I went to my amazing tattoo artist for my biggest tattoos yet, portraits of my fur babies. I’ve wanted a cat-related tattoo for a while and it seemed only fitting to use Thor and Loki as inspiration for these. The whole sitting took about four hours, and I was pretty exhausted by it, but I am so happy with how they came out.
As they’re on the back of my legs, sometimes I forget they’re there, but my boys are a permanent addition now.
Thor & Loki had their annual vaccines and health checks in October 2022, which all went well. I still can’t get over that we’ve had them for over a year now. Where is time going?!
Our wedding is in just over six months which is both exciting and scary. Mainly scary because of how quickly it’s come around.
In the grand scheme of things we are really prepared with most of the big things ticked off. But we had a whole load of small things to figure out like signage, decor bits, a cake stand etc. So we put aside an evening to dedicate to planning and it was really successful.

I saw the trailor for Black Adam and it looks quite good. Good to know it’s quite long – it helps to have a heads up to make sure drinks are not too big so no one needs a toilet dash lol.
Glad your October was great like mine! I celebrated my 28th birthday and then my family and I went on a road trip to Tennessee to visit Dollywood. Along the way we stopped in Nashville which was fun too!
Hope you had a lovely birthday x
I am amazed at how much you pack into your month with all the fun things you do. I love those tattoos how beautiful are they .

I also have a gift guide coming up soon, so I definitely know how much time they take up
Oh my goodness! I can’t believe you read 77 books. That’s amazing! I don’t know if I could find the time to do that.
I’m on over 80 at the moment so I really hope I can get to 100 this year x

Sounds like a great month. I love seeing concerts from my youth, few things make me feel more alive. The cat tattoos are lovely.
That is really amazing how many books you have read so far. Books are always great to learn and help us grow.
Reading is such a great outlet x
Oh wow I really love your tattoos! I have been thinking of getting one for my fur baby too! What a lovely design.
Thank you, it’s so nice to have them forever with me x
You’ve read SO many books! That’s incredible. Do you have a routine for creating reading time? Love your cat tattoo’s.
I wish I had more of a routine, it’s something I need to do. I find that I read loads in a short space of time and then don’t ready for ages which isn’t the best x
I’ve just had a sleeve tattoo, love it ! That hot chocolate, oh my gosh, it looks incredible
Oh wow, I bet that was a long session to do a whole sleeve x
