What a busy month December 2022 has been. For me, I feel like Christmas was over way too quickly. As I was away in mid-November, I started doing Christmassy things a bit later than usual. And I didn’t arrange to go to London to see Christmas lights or go to a Christmas market.
But regardless, December 2022 was a great way to end the year. And I can now officially say I get married in less than four and a half months which is mad.
I met up with a few friends throughout December 2022 to celebrate Christmas. I had a meetup with some old school friends near the start of the month, followed by drinks with another group of friends that evening.
Later in the month, I saw two of my closest friends for an evening of catching up, doggie cuddles and food. The perfect evening right? And I had my family round the weekend before Christmas for a mass buffet. Although sadly, my mum had COVID, so couldn’t make it.
Me and Luke even managed to make it out to a lovely Italian restaurant nearby that we’d been meaning to go to for a pre-Christmas meal. And it was so good.
When the snow hit the country, we had 4-6 inches covering everywhere for a whole week, so it did hamper some plans I had, including my work’s Christmas meal. But it probably did me good to stay indoors for a bit.
Near the start of the month, I headed to Wembley to see The Nightmare Before Christmas live show with my best friend and her boyfriend. I saw the show a few years ago, and this time around, it was just as good as I remembered. And it did make me feel a little bit festive.
At the tail end of the snowy week, I made it down to Bournemouth to meet up with one of my friends and have a festive day out, including some great food.
Then in the weird few days between Christmas and New Year me and Luke met up with my best friend and her boyfriend for an evening at a board game cafe. We played some really fun games and just had a relaxed evening. Then on New Years Eve we did a wizarding themed escape room in Milton Keynes with Lukes sister and her boyfriend. The actual escape room was pretty good and we got out in 52 minutes.
Me and Luke celebrated on Christmas Eve, exchanging presents, watching movies, building lego and getting a takeaway. Another pretty perfect day.
This year we decided to go back to alternating our Christmas with our parents, so we spent Christmas Day with Luke’s family. It was a lovely day, and then on Boxing Day, we headed to my parents for a pretty mad day with 10 of the family.
I will admit after the few days, and some early mornings, I was pretty knackered by the time we got back to ours on the 27th. But it was worth it.
I headed to a book warehouse close to me twice in December *oops*. But the books are 70% off, so I didn’t feel too guilty! I wrote a whole post about 66 Books which you can read. In December 2022 I finally joined a Book Club Group hosted by Amy from Amy’s Bookshelf and we had our first read and book club chat. While I was a bit nervous/ anxious during the first chat it was so nice to be surrounded by book lovers. And chat virtually about the themes and what we thought about things.
Near the start of the month, me and Luke headed into Milton Keynes for a special Red Bull Racing event, including drifting cars, motorcyclists and, of course, the two F1 drivers. The whole event was great and the closest I’m ever going to get to a Formula One driver.
The only movie we went to see at the cinema was the new Avatar and I have mixed feelings. It was visually really good and I liked the story but it was just too long. We had to go and see it after Christmas to find a day when Luke wouldn’t be waking up for work the morning after.
As the snow eased off, I headed to a new tattoo artist and finally got a pumpkin tattoo added to my collection. It’s pretty much healed now, and I love it.
