Cashback is the ultimate free money game, as you don’t pay any extra to quality for it. And you get money back for making purchases you were going to make anyway.

One of my financial goals for 2023 was to use cashback sites more often. I’d say I’ve semi achieved that, but I need to remember more.

There are multiple ways you can get cashback, and one of those is through the app Jamdoughnut.

Who are Jamdoughnut?

Jamdoughnut are a cashback site which have over 150 brands including supermarkets, fashion brands, restaurants/ takeaway providers and more. The average cashback rate is 3%, but it can be a lot more than that.

They’re slightly different from other cashback websites where you click to make a purchase and are taken through to the brands site. With Jamdoughnut you purchase a voucher for the amount you want to spend on say ASOS or Waterstones. You can pay for your voucher through Apple/ Google Pay or with Open Banking. Choosing open banking gives you a better cashback rate.

The voucher then appears in your account for you to go and spend with the brand. You can use vouchers both online or instore, each provider gives information on this. For example Asda and Sainsbury’s can be used both online and instore whereas Tesco, Aldi and Iceland are in store only.

National Book Token

Vouchers and points

You get points for your purchase, which equate to money. As you’re buying a voucher the cashback you get is instant. There’s no waiting around for months and months for validation. I bought a National Book Token Voucher for £10 and got 70 points aka 70p straight in my wallet.

You can withdraw when you hit £10. You’d be surprised how quickly you’ll reach that when you can do your weekly food shop through cashback vouchers. When you click withdraw you’ll get your cashback paid same day, so no more waiting around.

Their app is quick and really easy to use so it’s no wonder that it’s the highest rated cashback app on TrustPilot.

Pumped up offers

It’s worth keeping an eye on their pumped up activity that they run which give increased cashback rates on specific brands. If you know you’re going to buy in the future you can bank the vouchers with a better rate of cashback when rates are higher. For example a recent promotion gave enhanced cashback on supermarkets. And a few weeks ago it was on DIY/ Home Improvement so that would have been the time to get the Ikea vouchers.

How you can add a secondary add of cashback with Jamdoughnut

As you’re buying a voucher through Jamdoughnut there’s nothing stopping you from using a secondary layer of cashback or vouchers at checkout.

Usually with other cashback providers if you enter a voucher code or discount at checkout you’re then not able to claim cashback. But with Jamdoughnut this isn’t the case as you’ve already got the points before you even make the purchase. When I had my National Book Token voucher I then made a Waterstones purchase (like I need an excuse) using another cashback provider on top.

Sign up using my referral code WNTP and you’ll get an extra 200 points (so £2) when you make your first purchase.

I love things like this. We have one here (that I know of) and it works similarly. I like that you get the cash back on something you were going to buy anyway, then it is really a saving.

Anyway to get free money is a win. This doesn’t have anything to do with open banking so you don’t need to connect your account at all x
