I find Valentine’s Day to be a strange time of the year. It’s solely commercial and love should be shown throughout the year, but it is a nice excuse for some treats.
When me and Luke started dating he would take me for a fancy dinner for Valentine’s Day (mainly because my birthday is in January when everyone’s usually poor). But in later years we’ve just used it as an excuse for a treat or too.
This year we’re actually on our honeymoon until a few days before 14th February so chances are we won’t do anything on the actual day. But we had a mini Valentine’s week this past week and it’s been really nice. I find it’s just a great time of the year to indulge in a few treats like the ones below.
Like I need an excuse for something yummy and sweet?! But 14th Feb is the perfect one and something you can both enjoy.
I’ve been a fan of Lola’s Cupcakes for year’s, they’re a go to treat before a long train ride. And Luke got me the most amazing dinosaur cupcakes for my birthday during lockdown. And they’ve nailed it again with their Valentine’s collection.
The cake I have is the postal cake which starts at just £25, and that’s right can be posted to you. The packaging to keep it safe in transit and cool is second to none, I had no idea how big the actual cake would be as there was so much padding in the box.
It is a chocolate sponge cake topped with dark and light pink vanilla buttercream and decorated with sprinkles, red hearts and rose petals. It’s absolutely stunning, but the main thing is it takes amazing. When we first tried it the day it arrived it was so soft and even four days later it’s still amazing. I hate the word but it’s a moist cake and it’s sweet without being too sweet, perfection in my eyes.
You can pre-order your cake now for delivery from 6th February. Or if you’re local to a branch check out the rest of their collection including cupcakes and brownies.
I love having flowers in the house, but my cats get very excited about them and I don’t want them destroyed. So when I do get them they get displayed in my office so I can see them whenever I work.
I have a mixture of different coloured roses from Eflorist and they’re stunning. Just what I need to make me smile when I’m at work. As I write this post the roses have been in my office for 6 days and they look just as fresh as they did when they arrived. If anything they look even better as some of the roses have opened more.
Postal services and flowers don’t always mix well, but these arrived in a specially designed eFlorist box to keep them protected. Alongside the flowers there was a little bag of plant food which seems to have done wonders.
Flowers are one of those beautiful gifts that can be given to anyone to show you care. And I know I’d be over-the-moon if anyone sent me flowers. But failing that there’s no harm in buying some for yourself!
Eflorist have a full Valentine’s collection which you can check out here. Some of the bunches even come with a little box of Lindt chocolates (like mine did), but they didn’t last for long.
This is why Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday. It’s a holiday for treating, and it doesn’t have to be big like Christmas – just heartfelt.
Yes meaning and thought x
I love to make special treats and little notes for my husband on Valentine’s Day. It’s the small things that make the biggest impact.
I’m going to try and sneak something into my husbands lunch box tomorrow, good shout x
I can’t agree more with you…True you don’t need a special day to treat yourself but Valentine is Valentine and I will be treating myself for sure! I am thinking a spa…
Ohh a spa sounds good, I may need to treat myself to that too x
I couldn’t agree more that love should be shown year-round, but it’s always nice to have a special occasion for indulgence.
I must admit to loving a pretty bunch of flowers! We don’t often make as much on Valentine’s day as we used to. I guess it happens after a while. The cake looks fab – and I could sure use a sweet treat!

Yes! THis is so true, Valentine’s can be a reason to love everybody. Especially ourselves, always make time for yourself.
Yep, a good excuse to treat anyone you love, including yourself x
