Is It Worth Getting A Butler At Sandals Resorts?

It’s been a few months since we got back from our honeymoon, and I wanted to talk about the boujee aspect of our trip; our butler. We’d been to a Sandals resort before back in 2019 and we wanted to make our honeymoon trip really special. We debated about whether it was worth getting a butler at Sandals, and in the end we went with it. If you’re debating whether to book the butler elite service then this is the post for you.

I’m going to talk about our butler experience, what they can offer you and overall is it worth getting a butler at a Sandals resort.

We’ve only had butler service at Sandals Ochi in Jamaica, so this is just our experience from this resort. Although I do expect that the high level of service is prevalent throughout the portfolio of resorts.

What can your butler do?

Our holiday was all about relaxation and we wanted to do as little as possible. So having a butler meant that even the smallest things were taken care of.

When you first arrive you get a phone which is direct access to your butlers throughout your stay. The hours they’re available will vary but generally start from 8am and end around 10pm. And the butlers each have their own golf buggy that they can use to take you all around the resort.

The Sandals Ochi resort is pretty big and spread over two sides of the road (with a shuttle bus available). And it’s quite hilly in places. So the transport whenever we wanted it go head to breakfast or over to the beach was great.

The butlers can book anything you want from dinner reservations and private meals to spa treatments and amenities like dry cleaning. And pretty much anything you want/ need they can do. Fancy a cooler of drinks bought to your lounger by the pool? Done. Do you want a cocktail to arrive at 12pm every day? Done. Whatever you need they’re there to help with.

If you want them to get you sunbeds at the pool they can do that. If you forget something in your room they can go and fetch it. Anything to make your stay and experience even better.

Our butler experience

We had two butlers which worked side-by-side. Some days we’d have just one on shift all day (if it was the other ones day off), or other days they worked alongside each other on shifts. And our butlers were great, nothing was too much trouble.

When we first arrived they took us off to our room and gave us the tour ensuring we had all the drinks and amenities we needed. And our butlers booked up all of our restaurant bookings for us, ensuring we could go to all of the places we wanted. Then each evening they’d drop us off and seat us in the restaurant, bringing us drinks etc. before the waiting staff took over. This extra touch was really nice, especially when the pair started to know our go-to drinks orders.

Most days we’d be greeted with treats in our room which tended to be a plate of cookies and a mini charcuterie board which made me very happy. A few times we didn’t fancy heading out for lunch so our butler brought us pizza or jerk chicken from the lunch spots to the room. And most days we’d get a random delivery of a new cocktail to try which was always a fun treat.

Overall is it worth getting a butler at Sandals Resorts?

For us the butler was 100% worth it as it added an extra layer of relaxation to our trip.

Yes we could have walked around ourselves and made our own reservations. And yes we could have walked to a bar to order our own cocktail. But not having to think about any of that and having someone else indulge you made our honeymoon extra special.

If you book a room with a butler then you’ll be located within an area called butler village, and the type of room we wanted was only available with a butler. So that made the decision for us. But it’s worth noting certain room types don’t have the option for a butler, and some room types only have the option for a butler.
