Back in 2019 we did our first Sandals Resort holiday, so when we were thinking about what to do for our honeymoon we knew we wanted to do another. So we chose the Sandals Ochi in Jamaica. I’ll admit we didn’t really look at the locations when we picked. We were looking at the resorts and what they offered to make a decision.
For these types of holidays we’re going for the weather and the resort. And the Caribbean in January/ February is beautiful, a nice break from the cold dark and grey skies of the UK.
We headed to Ocho Rios at the end of January for a two week stay and I wanted to tell you all about it.
To make the trip extra special we decided to book a slightly more elaborate package than we’d done before. So we went for a poolside one bedroom villa suite in Butler Village. So our room itself was one of four within a villa with a private pool outside. Thankfully we had a downstairs villa suite so had a lovely terrace that opened straight out onto the pool. And despite having three other rooms constantly occupied we only ever saw one couple around the private pool. So the whole stay was quiet and relaxing.
Being in the Butler Village was our honeymoon indulgence. Yes having a butler was outrageous but it made our holiday even more incredible. They’re basically there to do everything/ anything for you. From trip and dinner planning to driving you to dinner and bringing you cocktails as you’re sunbathing by the pool.
The whole holiday wasn’t cheap, but everything was worth it as we had an incredible time.
I’m not going to go into too much detail about the resort itself as I’ll do a whole post on that, but overall it was an incredible resort. It’s split across two sites (beachfront and hillside) with a short 2 min ride between the two. This meant the resort didn’t feel too busy as people were spread out and it provided even more choice when it came to food and drink.
On site there are three breakfast options, eight lunches and a whopping 10 dinner spots. So we were spoilt for choice, and that doesn’t even include the two late night spots, and the option of room service.
We ate so much amazing food, and had our share of great cocktails too.
We’re pretty relaxed people so we weren’t there to do loads of activities, and we definitely didn’t make the most of what was on offer. But were there to chill out for the two weeks.
We spent most of our days on a sun lounger with me reading and Luke reading or listening to a podcast. The majority of the time this was by our own pool but sometimes it was by the main pool or the beach. Relaxation options were endless.
We did one day trip out to swim with dolphins which was a complete bucket list experience for me that I loved. Another day we got massages and had a private dinner which was lovely.
I’ve never been to Jamaica but my landlord, a jamaican, keeps on telling me how gorgeous it is…I can’t wait to explore it, soon I hope.
I will admit I can’t tell you too much about Jamaica as a place haha x
Well, we’ve already had our honeymooon, but looking at Ochi Rios, I think maybe we need a second honeymoon!
A second honeymoon sounds perfect x
This sounds amazing! I love that you had a butler and were also in a poolside villa making the whole experience even more special. I absolutely love the photo of you with the dolphin!
Your honeymoon at Sandals Ochi Rios sounds like a dream come true! I’m glad you got to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Jamaica. The dolphin swim sounds incredible too! 🙂
Honestly the dolphin swim was such a dream x
Wow! Sandals Ochi Rios place is really a perfect place for honeymoon. I will save this for my future plans.
What an amazing honeymoon, I have not been to Jamaica although nearly did before lockdowns. It certainly sounds like the perfect honeymoon destination
Reading about your experience at Sandals Ochi in Jamaica brings back fond memories of our own trip to a Sandals Resort back in 2019. Like you, we were drawn to the allure of the Caribbean for its beautiful weather and luxurious amenities. Your blog post has me itching to plan our next getaway. Thanks for sharing your honeymoon adventure!”
Oh my God the beaches are beautiful! Looks like you had so much fun with the dolphin swimming up too! What a fabulous getaway ^_^
Never been to Jamaica but would love to visit sometime not for honeymoon but may be for vacations. you must have a great honeymoon there.
We definitely noticed that Americans were there just for a general holiday as it’s much closer. But for European people those there were celebrating big things as it’s much further out (and more expensive) x
It is so good to spend some time just relaxing and not going from activity to activity. Thank you for sharing your honeymoon!
Aw what a super lovely honeymoon looks like you had an amazing time. I like the sound of having a butler haha xx
What a wonderful honeymoon – congratulations! Jamaica is still on my lost of places to visit – I am feeling inspired!
Thank you x
