Comic Con, F1 Exhibition and Christmas Shopping – October 2024 Overview

November 5, 2024

Does anyone else feel like because it’s November you instantly want to put up your Christmas tree? Because I sure do. October 2024 disappeared in the blink of an eye, like all of 2024 seems to have. But I am fully in the festive mood right now. I’ve started planning my present wrapping days and I’m loving seeing all the stores decorations. But I need to enjoy it and take it all in, because it’s all going to be over before we know it.

Things I got up to in October 2024

The start of the month started a little show as I went back to work on 7th after our holiday, but it feels like I’ve not stopped since. I had two live shows this month starting with the McFly 21st birthday show which was just magical. I’ve seen the band quite a few times over the 21 years and they just make me smile. Then I headed to see an album anniversary show from Mallory Knox which again brought back a lot of nostalgia from a decade ago.

Me and Luke headed to the F1 exhibition at the Excel and it was so good. It was touch and go as to whether we’d get in as Luke was half an hour late, but the wonderful team there made it work. The exhibition was fab and there was so much to see there from car parts and trophies to memorabilia.

Things I watched and read

We headed to the cinema twice in October 2024, firstly to see Transformers One which was a really cool origin story. Then we went to see the latest Venom movie which I did enjoy, but it wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever seen.

During the middle of the month I headed to the Milton Keynes theatre to see Chicago. I think this is one of my favourite musicials and the show was fab. It did instantly make me want to watch the movie again which I did.

TV wise I finally finished Young Sheldon and I did bawl my eyes out at the last few episodes, IYKYK. I’ve been trying to catch up with other shows that I’ve started like Emily and Paris and Married at First Sight UK but I’m not making the most progress.

All things bookish in October 2024

As per usual it was another bookish filled month, this just seems to be my personality now. Half way through the month I met my friend in Southampton for a lovely day which ended in a witchy book talk with Lucy Jane Wood and Nadia El-Fassi which I loved.

Then later in the month I braved a day of Comic Con on my own. It’s been a while since I’ve been to the full Comic Con and I had forgotten how big and overwhelming it can be. I did a spot of shopping and managed to watch a few interesting talks and meet a few authors for some signings including V.E.Schwab. So all-in-all a great day.

In just a few weeks is the big one – YALC – and I can’t wait.

My favourite books of the month

I had a pretty good reading month with a real mixture of stuff. But my top picks from October 2024 were:

Things that made me happy in October 2024

Having some Christmas shopping days with my mum and nan has made me happy. It’s so nice to spend proper one-on-one time with them, and Christmas shopping is the best!

I’ve finally started burning my Cinnamon Roll candle from Overose and it’s the most incredible candle I’ve ever smelt. Every time I walk into my office it smells like a bakery which is a complete win for me.

Our utility space is in it’s final stages and I’m getting so excited. In a few short weeks it should be complete and ready for me to fill up and use the space.
