In the blink of an eye the first month of 2024 is over. January 205 has definitely been the month I’ve taken a step back and relaxed a bit more. I’ve had limited plans, partially due to how grey and miserable the month has been, but partially to take some time for myself.
There aren’t many advantages of a January birthday, but it is nice to have an excuse to take a few days off work just as everyone’s back after Christmas.
The weekend before my birthday Luke had arranged for us to spend the weekend in Padstow, Cornwall. We stayed at The Pig hotel which was absolutely beautiful and we took it pretty easy. Heading into Padstow we did a bit of shopping with the ultimate combination fudge, Cornish pasties and books. We ate some great food, and I had a lovely massage.
Then on my actual birthday we saw my family for a takeaway and a bit of time to spend together.
I headed to the cinema twice over the month. Right at the start of the month me and Luke saw Nosferatu which was a really interesting movie, although I had no idea what to expect. It was a bit more gruesome than I was expecting, but I still enjoyed it.
Then I went on a solo trip to see We Live in Time featuring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh. The movie was absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking, the perfect tearjerker (and I don’t usually cry at movies!)
For Christmas I booked tickets for me and my nan to see Calamity Jane at a local theatre and we headed to that in the middle of the month. The movie was a staple that I remember watching with my nan when I was younger, and it was lovely to be able to see the show together.
I’ve caught up with the latest series of Love is Blind, and it was very meh. I’m starting to get a little bored of these reality dating/ marriage shows as a lot of the people are so unlikeable. Hannah was just horrible to Nick (although he wasn’t a saint). Ramses started off lovely, but then I went off him as the season went on. And Stephen just turned into a bit of a creep.
We’re a bit late, but me and Luke have been watching Agatha all along and I’ve really enjoyed the season.
January 2025 was a pretty good month of reading, including two big series hitters. Some of my favourite reads of the month were:
Other than some very small finishing touches our utility renovation is done, yay! I absolutely love the space, and all of the extra storage is so handy!
Near the end of the month we made a start on our next project which is a log cabin for our garage. We had a concrete base poured in and the cabin delivered, so stay tuned for progress updates!
It’s been a pretty great year for you so far, it sounds like! That birthday getaway was so wonderful!
It was such a good start to the year x
It’e been a fantastic year so far. It’s always so satisfying when even the smallest parts of a renovation are done.
We’re just slowly ticking off the list x
You had a great January by the looks of it. I agree about those reality shows, people just sign up to try and become influencers.
Love how you kicked off the year! It’s always so motivating to reflect on wins and set new goals. I am AWFUL at goal setting, my ADHD hates it. Wishing you even more success in the months ahead!
Yeah my husband has ADHD and he’s the same. So I always factor him in and do joint goals that I help sort haha x
Sounds like you are starting the year off with goals in mind and a bunch of relaxation! Glad you’re having a good 2025.
Having a good 2025 is critical in my opinion. Looks like you have goals in mind for 2025, and all the very best for that!
I never read the book Calamity Jane, but the Doris Day was a hit in the Movie Calamity Jane. Cheers learning more in 2025
I don’t think there’s been a book of Calamity Jane, or if there has I’ve not read it. The movie was huge in our house x
wow it looks like your started your year off very strong! I need to be this organised for sure
I will definitely get A Fate Inked In Blood, I can’t wait…You’ve given it 5 stars…I can’t wait to start reading it.
Belated Happy Birthday! And congrats on finishing the utility room. We are going to do some updates over here, too.
We loved Agatha All Along, such a clever series and brilliant acting by all too.
It was so much fun wasn’t it x
That sounds like a great start to the year so far! Heres to many more wonderful months!
