Getting married can be one of the most exciting events in a person’s life – you’ve finally received the engagement ring you’ve always longed for and now you’re ready to throw a party to celebrate!

However, many people think they have to spend a small fortune on the engagement party, but this doesn’t have to be the case. In this article, we’ve listed our top tips on how to plan an engagement party on a budget.

Only invite the closest people you know

If you’re looking to cut costs, consider keeping the guest list small rather than hosting a huge bash. After all, it’s nice to have your closest family and friends celebrating with you instead of feeling like you have to impress strangers.

Smaller parties allow everyone to talk and get to know each other, which is ideal if your families are still yet to meet properly. And, you can spend the time thanking everyone for being there, as well as allowing yourself to be more personable during the intimate affair.

Host at home if you have a big garden

Hiring out a venue for your engagement party can be incredibly expensive and can rack up the costs before you’ve even considered everything else. If you have the space at home, consider hosting at your place, or even ask a friend or family member if they can host the party at theirs.

That way, you can decorate as you please while being in the comfort of your own home. What’s not to love?

For an outdoor engagement in your garden, led furniture hire is a simple way to enhance the space, especially for evening events. It adds a soft glow, modern style, and makes your garden feel like a professional venue.

Don’t treat the engagement party as a mini wedding

Don’t forget that this is just your engagement party and not your actual wedding. You don’t have to go all out on the details, such as creating fancy invites or complex menus.

You also don’t want to spend all your money on a fancy gown, as this likely won’t be necessary. Save the beautiful dress for the big day!

Send digital invitations instead of paper ones

Send out digital invitations to save on the stamps and printing costs of paper invitations.

There are loads of templates online which you can easily customize and create your very own invitations for free. And, they’re eco-friendly!

Reuse old decorations for your engagement party

Sticking with the sustainable and eco-friendly theme, it’s worth considering reusing old decorations that you’ve previously used to help save money and be kind to the planet.

Or, perhaps your friend has recently got engaged and has loads of beautiful decorations that will be perfect for your celebrations. There’s no harm in asking to borrow them, as it saves them just going to waste!

You could also look online to see if people are selling their old decorations. Many people might be desperate to get rid of them, so could be selling at a bargain price.
