As if by magic another year has flown by. And everything about December 2025 was magical. I can’t believe Scarlett’s experienced her first Christmas, even though she doesn’t understand any of it. Weaning started in December which was been really fun so far. Seeing Scarlett learn and discover food is so much fun.
I have a feeling that 2026 is going to be an incredible year, although a tough year with maternity leave ending for me. But here’s an overview of how the end of 2025 went.
Me and Luke had a Christmas meal out while Scarlett had an evening with my parents. It seems that we’ve started a new tradition as we headed back to The Glasshouse buffet at The Grove. We went last December but because I was pregnant there were a few key things I couldn’t eat. So my first plate this time was all of those things; brie and soft cheeses, charcuterie meats and sushi. I think we’re going to have to keep this as an annual tradition now.
I had a lovely Christmassy day in London with my bestie which was fun. We did some shopping, ate some yummy food and started to feel a bit festive mid month. Then just after Christmas me and Luke headed to Bicester Village, although we didn’t actually buy much. But it was a fun few hours exploring.
Even though Scarlett won’t remember or understand anything, we wanted to make her first Christmas memorable.
I had a Christmas baby class with some of the other NCT mummies at the start of the month and it was so much fun. There was a professional photographer and we got some of the cutest festive photos.
We rebranded our annual ‘Pet Christmas’ to become ‘Cousins Christmas’. It’s basically just an excuse to get around my side of the family and buy all the party food I want to try and make a massive buffet for everyone. And it’s always so nice to see Scarlett and her cousin together, although next Christmas when they’re walking (or close to) is going to be chaos.
We did two light trails; Land of Lights in Milton Keynes and Ashridge House. Both were great for different reasons, but I definitely think they’ll become traditions.
And just generally the core three days from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day were just magical. Seeing Scarlett with all her close family was all we wanted for her first Christmas.
At the start of the month we had the end of F1 season and I did shed a tear when Lando Norris won. I’m so happy for him, and so excited to see what the 2026 season brings.
I went to baby cinema for the first time to see Wicked again. The whole experience was lovely as there were so many women there with their kids all enjoying the movie. And all the babies were so well behaved considering how long the movie it.
I went for a festive viewing of one of my fav Christmas movies, The grinch. Then right at the end of the month I saw The housemaid. I think they did a pretty good job of translating the book to the big screen, even if I knew everything that was going to happen.
While a lot of what I read in December 2025 was fun I didn’t have any real standouts. But here’s to 2026.
