There’s something about the first signs of spring that instantly lifts your mood. Earlier this week I was walking to the leisure centre to go swimming with Scarlett and it was such a beautiful day it made me smile. There was sunshine, and bright blue skies. I even had the urge to come home and open up the windows.
This time of year always makes me want to have a seasonal switch up in my wardrobe.
Not a dramatic clear-out. Not a complete reinvention of my style. Just a thoughtful Spring refesh — swapping heavy layers for softer knits, darker tones for lighter neutrals, and adding pieces that make everyday dressing feel effortless again.
Because spring style should feel easy.
After months of chunky jumpers and thick coats, our wardrobes can start to feel heavy and repetitive. And while I love a good jumper, Spring is that transitional moment where we don’t quite need full summer outfits yet, but winter pieces feel too much.
Refreshing your wardrobe now means:
It’s less about trends and more about practicality. As a busy mum, I need outfits that can handle getting down on the floor constantly, and moving around after a little one.
That’s where thoughtful, wearable staples come in.
This season, I’ve been adding a few key pieces from Cotton Traders to make getting dressed simpler.
The focus? Comfort, versatility and those easy-to-style neutrals that work with everything.
The first piece I’ve added to my rotation is the jersey denim joggers which come from the new Alex Jones collection.
These are exactly what spring calls for — the look of denim, but with the comfort of joggers. The elasticated waistband makes them ideal for everyday wear, especially when you’re constantly on the move. They’re soft, relaxed and incredibly easy to pair with trainers or lightweight knits.
They’re the kind of piece that makes you feel put together without sacrificing comfort — which, honestly, is the goal.
And that’s exactly what the Alex Jones Spring edit is all about. The collection effortlessly blends versatile activewear, supersoft knits and coffee-coded neutrals to create the ultimate fuss-free transitional line-up for spring.
For anyone wanting a Spring Refresh that feels cohesive rather than chaotic, this edit makes it incredibly simple.
Next are the premium pull-on straight leg jeans in black.
If you love the look of structured jeans but hate stiff waistbands, these are such a good middle ground. The pull-on design makes them incredibly comfortable, while the straight-leg fit keeps them classic and flattering. I’m finally over skinny jeans now and my wardrobe is solely straight leg.
Black jeans are a spring essential for me. They work with lighter tops and trainers during the day but can easily be dressed up (if I ever went out) They’re one of those ‘grab and go’ staples that instantly simplify your wardrobe. And I find they work really well for work outfits when I go back after maternity ends.
I’m trying to get back into working out so I opted for the short sleeve double mock t-shirt from the CT Active range.
It’s also great for layering, as the Sring weather can change hour by hour, so having breathable base layers is key. It’s perfect for layering under lightweight jackets or wearing solo on milder days. Versatile, comfortable and practical — exactly what transitional dressing needs.
Refreshing your wardrobe isn’t about spending unnecessarily or chasing trends. When your wardrobe works for you, mornings feel calmer. You reach for pieces you genuinely enjoy wearing. You stop feeling stuck in winter mode.
And as the seasons shift, that subtle reset can make a bigger difference than you expect. Spring is about lighter days, fresh starts and small changes that make everyday life feel easier.
I know what you mean about having a wardrobe shake up. I did place an order the other day to treat myself. Although it is more winter weather here today
I am so excited for my spring refresh, I will be doing that over the weekend…finally…I will check CT Active, thank you for the recos.
These look super cozy. When spring comes, I always love to find some new replacements for my older pieces. These look great.
I need to give my “wardrobe” a refresh. Notice I have placed the word in quotes. LOL. Do they have clothes for guys?
I do like to switch up my wardrobe when I get the opportunity so spring is the perfect excuse. I currently do not own any denim so that would make a great comfy edition that will help keep me warm enough and help me create a relaxed look ideal for doing the school run in.
I have also just ordered some light weight trousers in a thinner fabric – the sunshine always makes me feel energised. It is always lovely to have a little wardrobe refresh!
Elasticated waists are definitely the best way to handle a busy day. I am totally done with stiff denim after years of being uncomfortable. These pieces will be great for when you head back to work.
I’ve just gotten rid of all my skinny jeans. If I’m going to wear jeans now it’s all lose fitting comfortable ones x
I totally agree that spring is the perfect season to switch up our wardrobe. Time to move into lightweight clothes from the heavy ones. Wishing you a happy spring season!
Loved this! Spring really does feel like a reset button. Your ideas are simple yet motivating—makes me want to declutter and refresh my space right away
I’ve been sorting out my wardrobe , making room for some spring stuff now the sun is appearing
I just went through my dresser and took out all my heavy jumpers. It’s the perfect time to refresh.
I am so happy to ditch my winter coat and wear less layers. Spring is a great time for a little wardrobe makeover.
