5 Reasons You Should Take A Spa Break

I’ve had spa treatments before including facials and massages which are always lovely and leave me feeling relaxed and pampered but then I step out from the salon and an hour later other than silky smooth skin it’s back to normal. It’s been on my bucket list for a while to do a proper weekend spa break and last weekend I managed to tick that off but now they’re going to have to become an annual treat because I felt amazing when I got home.

We all need some time to turn off

We all lead busy lives and even when we think we’re relaxing it’s likely we’re replying to emails, uploading an image to Instagram, or doing something else but when you take a spa break you have a chance to really turn off. It’s the perfect chance to start that book you’ve been meaning to read, or get back into swimming after a few months away from the pool.

It’s a good time to be technology-free

When you sit around the poolside or wander around the spa it’s unlikely that you’ll have your phone handy so it’s a nice chance to free from technology and avoid having your mobile in your hand all day. We all depend on the internet far too much but how often do we read physical books, handwrite notes or be artistic and grab your sketchpad.

Indulge in some self-care

When you have a spa weekend even if you don’t manage to have a treatment chances are you’ll be taking care of your body from swimming, sitting in the sauna, relaxing in the jacuzzi or just relaxing around makeup-free on the loungers. If you manage to have some treatments then you’ll be taking, even more, care of your body, I had a full-body exfoliation and my skin was left feeling so soft I need to make sure I do this myself at home.

Chances are you’ll feel more refreshed when you get home

When you end up working hard and spending so much of your time pushing yourself to do the best you can you can become less efficient and less productive, so we all need our batteries recharging. Going on a spa break even if it’s local will make you re-energized and in a better state of mind to take on the challenges of life when you return. I tend to find when I am relaxing I get really good ideas for posts that are great to note down and revisit when I’m back to work.

Try something new

For so many of us spoiling and pampering ourselves doesn’t come naturally. I know I can feel guilty being at home and laying in bed with a facemask because I think I should be doing something productive like housework so taking time out to let professionals pamper you is an experience for many of us. Laying around a warm pool on a lounger wasn’t something that I usually do but it made me feel so good.
