Dreamy Wishlist For Another Future Trip To New York

There’s no hiding the fact that I am a little bit obsessed with New York, everything about the city makes me smile like a crazy person. I created a wishlist for my last trip to New York and managed to tick off every single thing on my trip last summer so now I’m creating another wishlist.

If I manage to head to New York over a New Year period there’s a chance I may be able to cross off almost everything on my wishlist, sports schedules permitting. But I’d also love to see the city in Springtime as I expect Central Park would be beautiful around then and then Coney Island would be open. I’ve been in July, August, September, and October so all during the summer/ early autumn month’s so it would be nice to round off all the seasons.

Here’s my latest wish list for New York, although scarily a lot are food related:

Do a tour of Radio City Music Hall

Last year I did a tour of Madison Square Gardens and it was really interesting so next time I’d like to do the same at Radio Rock City which is where a lot of TV shows such as Jimmy Fallon are filmed. You can get tickets to be in the audience of shows like that so if I had a chance I’d definitely register for tickets as I think the show is hilarious.

See the Rockettes

The Rockettes play a Christmas and New York spectacular show every year at Radio City Music Hall and going to see the show is quite integral in a few seasonal movies I’ve seen so I’d love to catch a performance sometime between Christmas and New Year to stay in the festive mood.

sprinkles

Get a Sprinkles cupcake from the ATM machine

Considering how many times I’ve been to NY I am annoyed that I’ve never used the amazing cupcake ATM machine, it’s just so annoying being all the way up by Central Park. Basically, it works as an actual ATM and you pay by card and order a cupcake from a machine. Now I know what you’re thinking and yes they’re all freshly baked, plus I love Sprinkles cupcakes, especially the Red Velvet.

Explore the Intrepid

This was the one thing I’d planned to do last year but never got round to. It’s a Sea, Air, and Space museum surrounding the aircraft carrier Intrepid which is a National Historic Landmark. You can see original artefacts and watch footage of the amazing carrier which fought in World War II, survived kamikaze and torpedo attacks and served as a NASA recovery vessel in the 1960s. It was decommissioned in 1974 and sits proudly on the Hudson River.

madison square gardens

Catch an Ice Hockey or Basketball match at Madison Square Gardens

Both seasons run from around October to March/ April and I would love to see one or both of these sports as last year I saw Baseball and it was boring so I want to see something faster paced with a definitive time of play. The way the Ice Hockey court is done at MSG intrigues me as it’s made at the start of the season and when other events happen such as concerts/ basketball etc they put a covering over it to protect it and the ice stays underneath which I think is awesome.

Eat at the Jekyll and Hyde Restaurant

This is a themed restaurant pretty much like what Titus works at during the first season of Kimmy Schmidt for any fans out there. If you haven’t seen the Netflix show then it’s designed as a haunted restaurant with spooky props, live entertainment and special effects around you as you dine. Now I know there would be things which make me jump but I think it would be well worth it for the experience, plus the food is meant to be really good.

Get a snack from Cookie Do

Cookie Do serve cookie dough in a whole host of flavours and as a massive fan of cookie dough, this seems like an obvious choice to visit, especially as they do a Peanut Butter Snickerdoodle flavour which is pretty much making me salivate just looking at the menu.

rockafeller at night

See the Rockafella Christmas Tree

One of the main festival things I want to do is see the Rockafella Christmas Tree, I know it stays just up until early January so a New Year trip would totally work out for this. The tree is such an iconic festival image and you can’t watch a festive movie in New York without an image of it taking over your screen, it’s one of those bucket list things I’d love to see.

Watch The Ball Drop in Times Square for New Year

Of course, if you’re in New York for the new year you can’t be a tourist and head super early to Time Square ready to see the ball drop. Now I’d expect it to be an anti-climax, and I’d expect to not be able to see much but just to experience it would be amazing.

macbar

Have Mac and Cheese at The Smith Restaurant

I did a lot of research around my trip last year on food – check out my food diaries here – and there were just too many places I wanted to eat at so I couldn’t do them all. The Smith Restaurant is somewhere I really want to go to for lunch as their mac and cheese looks amazing and anyone who knows me will understand my obsession.

Go to Coney Island

Coney Island hasn’t really been on my radar but after seeing some beautiful photos I know it’s somewhere I need to head. It’s in South Brooklyn so it’s a little far out but there is a beach and Luna Park which is an amusement park with rides and games and something completely different from the conventional feeling of New York City. This is one place I know I won’t be able to see during the festive season as it’s only open April- October, but a definite for the Springtime.

Head to Tipsy Scoop

Yes that’s right I’m ending on another foodie based item and that’s Tipsy Scoop an alcoholic ice-cream parlour because why not. They make some awesome sounding flavours including spiked mint chocolate chip and cake batter vodka martini, and it’s the kind of thing which just strikes me as really unique.
