Treat Yourself – Uncommon Homeware Wishlist

Uncommon Goods

As I’ve said just once or twice on my blog 2018 is the year for clearing out my flat, decluttering and saving money in the hope that late 2019 or 2020 will be the year I finally move from a flat to a house, talk about planning in advance!

Despite the fact that I am decluttering I am also going to try and get rid of some of the cheaper items I bought when I first moved in and replace them with quality long lasting items which can be moved into a house with us.

Alongside looking for good quality items it’s always nice to buy from suppliers who are in it for good reasons such as UncommonGoods which is a privately owned retailer in Brooklyn, New York which has to a commitment to both sustainability and craftsmanship. This means as a company they support a community of creative people such as designers and artisans for the products they sell so items have more of a personal feel. They also sell products which have been created in an environment which doesn’t harm animals or people and about a third of their collections are comprised of recycled or upcycle materials so it’s great if you’re worried about the effects of your buying habits on the environment.

I first started browsing on the site’s Kitchen Gadgets as this is always an area I am looking to update and then I moved onto the Home Decor area as decorative items are always top of my home wishlists, pretty much anything which doesn’t have a purpose other than just looking pretty.

The first two things I found were kitchenware item’s and include the stunning serving palette with bowls in the top left of the image. Whenever I’m having tapas at home or I have people around I struggle to know what to put bread and dips in so this would be perfect. And next up is the egg peeler as I want to get more into having hard boiled eggs but pulling the shell off is something which puts me off.

Next up is this hanging cocktail bar on the top right which would be perfect to store a few of my most used bottles in an easy to reach way ready to access when I fancy a drink. Underneath that in the bottom right corner is the cascade photo display which is a really simple design that just looks so pretty; there’s a small shelf with chains hanging down where you can attach photos to it. What a genius idea.

On the left is this stunning kinetic gear key holder which not only looks like a piece of artwork in itself but would be a great place to store mine and my boyfriend’s keys. Underneath that is the gold succulent mister which is such a good idea as I’m always wondering around with a small glass of water hoping to not overwater plants when I do them. Finally is the bedside essentials pocket which hooks over the side of the bed so you can store the TV remote, a book, glasses and any small bits which you may need to keep safe.

Uncommongoods is also a great site to help you look for gifts especially as they have a new expert gift finder called Sunny which allows you to plug in who you’re buying for along with their interests to show you gifts which would appeal to them most. This would really help with Housewarming Gifts to find something really unique.

I have never seen any of those things, (I’m that person who separates food on the plate so that it’s not touching) so that garlic bread with little dip things is right up my alley, might have to get myself it.

I’m loving the wire box thing. I definitely know what you mean about decluttering the cheap tat and investing in real furniture and accessories that will last – that is definitely something I’m working on right now.

I love the keyholder – it took me a while to work out what it was, but it’s really eyecatching and beautiful. The mister is lovely too, and I’m definitely in need of one – I overwater all of my houseplants, I have such a black thumb!
