Over the past few month’s there seem to be so many things which are new or I’ve just discovered which I am absolutely loving so I thought it was only best to round them all up in a post and shout about them. I have so much stuff at home so I’m trying to shop my stash a bit more and try out products which have been stored away for a while, but this being said I keep acquiring new stuff too.
Without further ado here are some of the things I haven’t been able to get enough of in January.
I keep saying to myself that I should use more hair masks but usually when I think about it I don’t have 15-20 minutes to let it develop on my hair but after working with them before Christmas I discovered the 7th Heaven Hair Masks*. They only have to sit on your hair for 1-5 minutes which is perfect to do while I am showering and they have left my hair feeling absolutely amazing. Usually, my hair can get a bit limp and doesn’t stay shiny looking throughout the day but using these has seriously changed things and my hair stays smooth and healthy looking. I’ve been trying to use them twice a week to add a boost and it’s really working.
I’m not overly loyal to one haircare brand and have tried so many drugstore/ high street versions over the years but I have been seriously impressed by the Phil Smith Total Revive* collection which is exclusive to Sainsbury’s. The shampoo and conditioner are just £3.50 each and due to the Argan oil, it is great for dry and damaged hair as it gives it a bit of TLC and some shine. I’ve been using the conditioner on the day’s I haven’t used a hair mask and my hair does soak up the moisture and it feels so soft afterwards. I am trying not to wash my hair every day and on the day’s I don’t wash it I’ve found the brand’s Argan Oil Cream is just what I need as it helps to lock in moisture and stop my hair from looking too greasy.
I’ve used Tangle Brushes before but I’ve only just got the compact brush* which has proved itself so useful for when I’ve been staying at my boyfriend’s or going away as it stores away really small and nothing can damage the bristles. With this brush, the two sides can unclip meaning you can use the mirror and the brush separately which is surprisingly useful when you’re out and about and not stood by your mirror at home.
My hair is reasonably thick so I need something really solid to work through the knots when I first wake up and the tangle angel does a great job at this, breaking up the knots without pulling my hair like some tangle brushes have done in the past.
I picked up a few of the Body Shop bubble bars as I’d seen a few YouTubers mention them and at just £1.50 I didn’t think I had anything to lose. They do take quite a long time of standing with the bar under the running water to actually finish up but once it does it provides so many bubbles. That’s one thing which I’m not as keen as about the Lush ones as I don’t feel that they produce that many bubbles for both the price and the size but these do such a good job for something so small. The mango scent was my favourite as it’s so fresh.
Recently I was introduced to the skincare range by Angela Langford and because I am trying to up my skincare game and as I’m approaching 30 I thought the Balancing Act* anti-ageing daily moisturiser would be a good place to start. There are loads of promising ingredients in it such as Chia seed which is high in Omega 3 so is designed to smooth fine lines and wrinkles and improve the elasticity of your skin. The Willowherb brings balance to your skin, the Safflower (thistle) nourishes skin and reduces pores, Evening Primrose to increase the skin cell’s ability to absorb oxygen, Vitamins A, C & E repairs the skin and has protecting antioxidants to protect your skin from future damage, Hyaluronic Acid to plump and volumise the skin, and finally Vitamin B5 to moisturize skin.
The ingredients are all well and good but how does it work?! After massaging just a few pumps onto a clean face it sinks straight into my skin and doesn’t leave any oily residue, instantly my skin glows a bit. After using it for around 10 days I can see such a difference in my skin, there’s a definite bounce when I touch my skin and even without makeup my redness is toned down and my skin just looks smoother. It might be a little more than I’d usually pay for a moisturiser but when it makes this much of a difference it’s worth it.
Last year before a friend’s wedding I debated getting my teeth whitened as it’s something I’ve wanted doing for ages but I just didn’t get time to go to a cosmetic dentist to enquire but then I came across the Smilelab Teeth Whitening Strips*. In just 15 minutes you can give yourself that boost of confidence in your smile because the strips aren’t a consecutive treatment you just use one of the pre-dosed strips as and when, and as there are no sensitivity issues anyone can use them.
Whether you’re getting married and want a boost for your special photos, or you just need some camera-ready confidence these strips are perfect.
I am a huge fan of popcorn as it’s generally reasonably low calorie but it still feels like an indulgent snack which is a great combination and I’ve recently been snacking on a lot of the Corkers Sweet & Salty popcorn* which is perfectly balanced between both of the flavours without being too overpowered by one or the other. The great thing is they’re gluten-free and suitable for vegans which is great news for all you popcorn lovers.
One thing which I have been loving so much this month is my brand new king-sized bed. Me and my boyfriend decided to start the new year off in style and upgrade from a double to a king-sized bed. The bed itself is an awesome ottoman bed from Wayfair which seriously has so much room underneath it I couldn’t believe it, and alongside our new Leesa Mattress* I’ve had some of the best sleep in January. I’m going to do a post in more detail about my bed but it was such a great investment.
Now being a January baby can suck sometimes because everyone’s poor around your birthday but I perked up when I got this Garnet Candle through from The Ombre Birthstone Candle Collection*. There is 6 Carats of Garnet which is fused into the top layer of the wax and every time it burns the gemstones float and are visible every time you burn the candle. As a birthstone Garnet is a pretty great one as it remains seen as a gift of love and there are loads of beliefs that it promotes good health which is always good.
Many people say Garnet is especially beneficial in the business realm especially for those people who are entering new areas so I’m hoping the candle can send me some good luck as I approach some job interviews and hope to step into a new business world.
