Small Items I’ve Bought To Spruce Up My Flat This Spring

Succulent in a Pot

Anyone who knows me will know how obsessed I am with home ware, I was the same when I lived at home but having multiple rooms means it’s a much bigger thing. As we’re saving for a house we don’t want to make any larger purchases, and to be honest I have all the furniture that I can physically fit into my flat. Saving can be tough but Icount have some great money guides to help find the best savings. Even though I want all the big Swoon bits of furniture and I know I can’t it doesn’t mean I can’t buy loads of smaller things. I’ve never been one for minimalist living and I have to admit I do have way too much stuff but that’s just the type of person I am so here are a few things I’ve been loving that have spruced up my flat.

As I have moved my makeup to my new Alex drawers I had quite a lot of empty space in the ensuite where it used to live, and while I don’t want to fill it all up and make it look cluttered again I thought something green would look nice in there. Of course as it’s me that green would be fake but I spotted a lovely little succulent/cactus in a glass bowl in The Range I knew it would fit perfectly.

Rose Gold Baskets

Over the past month I think I’ve bought about four of these rose gold baskets from Primark as I think they’re such great value for what they are at just £3 each, especially when similar things in shops such as Urban Outfitters are about four times the price. I’ve been using some of these within drawers of my Alex unit as they fit perfectly but also around the house as storage.

Next up is this lovely super soft grey rug from Dunelm which I absolutely love. I always had a rug in my living room as it made the area feel a lot more cozy considering the flooring is laminated, but when I bought a new sofa the old one just wasn’t right so we got rid of it. I hadn’t really looked around much for a rug when on a trip to Dunelm I saw this rug and fell in love with how soft it felt when I ran my hands over it, words can not do it justice. It’s the perfect size for the small spot of flooring I wanted to cover and it was just £29.99 which for a good quality rug is great.

Man Cave Sign

The final thing is this Man Cave sign from Signomatic* which now resides on the spare bedroom door. For the moment it’s not a full man cave but it does house my boyfriend’s 3D printer and when he moves in properly it will have his PC on it, meaning it will be more a room for his recreation than mine. The site offer such a huge variety of signs whether you want them for home like door or number signs, or for a business such as shop signs, they cover them all. The sign I have is a good thickness plastic sign which I customized to look how I wanted it to from the colour and shape to the font and symbols.

Have you been picking up any nice Spring items for your home?

I have wanted to get a little terrarium going in my house for ages! I love the look of succulents and they are so easy to look after, I really don’t have a good excuse not to get one set up.

I keep looking at the baskets in Primark, unfortunately the time I was going to buy them my husband was with me and the queues were longest I have ever seen and he started moaning,, hopefully I will be able to buy them soon. I love the man cave sign as well. I haven’t really had a chance to get out and buy anything recently x

I love that succulent in the glass jar. I’ve become obsessed by succulents since moving to Portugal as they grow here with very little maintenance. Which suits me as I am NOT a gardener of any sorts!

I absolutely love that succulent in a glass bowl, I love plants like that as I kill anything that isn’t a cactus! I would never think to go to The Range for it though so I’m going to have to take a trip there.

I love little succulents plus they’re hard to kill so well done on picking something that will probably survive you 🙂 I must admit like you I’m mad for all things home decor. I am still hunting around for a few bits and pieces also. Right now all my makeup sits in a large MAC makeup case ( I worked for them and got it on my allocation back in the day).

But you have me thinking about where I would house my everyday makeup. I do have a mini Christian Dior case that I also got when I worked for Dior and I like it a lot as it’s a mini suitcase with compartments. Those wire baskets are tempting however..

I am in the middle of moving, so I didn’t buy anything this month. However, I did get some plant and herbs seeds for my new garden and I can’t wait for April to come so that I can plant them outside.
