My Facial Experience At Heyday, New York

Last year me and Luke were browsing the internet when we came across an article on somewhere like Insider about a beard facial and instantly we were intrigued. It turns out it was in a salon called Heyday located in my favourite city, New York so it didn’t take long before I had convinced Luke that we should go to New York for his birthday and had the prices and plans already in place, any excuse for a trip eh?! Thankfully with his birthday being out of season in March, we managed to get return flights and a hotel for 4 nights for about £500 each which I thought was great.

Holiday pampering at Heyday

Once we had the trip booked I knew I needed to look into the beard facial as a special treat for his birthday so I booked us both in for 50-minute facials at the Heyday salon which was about a fifteen-minute walk from our hotel down Broadway, although there are about five different salons in Manhattan. We were booked in for 8.30am on a Monday morning to coincide with Luke’s actual birthday and I was expecting the salon to be empty but no there were plenty of other people in there enjoying their Monday morning facials, although it wasn’t crowded.

Heyday Facial choices

You can choose from a 30, 50 or 75-minute facial. The shorter one is just a quick maintenance or refresher facial so doesn’t include any extractions which is why I opted for the middle length facial for us as it was a deep cleansing facial to reset and refresh and designed to be taken around once a month. After we arrived and filled in our forms about our routines and skin concerns we were each taken into an area ready for our facial. Each area feels cosy and private with wooden shutters separating you from other customers, a really comfortable chair to lay into and space to house your bags/ coats etc. Once I got comfortable complete with a blanket my beautician Andrew got to work.

Heyday facial review

50 minutes melted away as I had so many products sinking into my skin from a double cleanse to a hydrating mask and moisturizing SPF cream which was all so relaxing, and Andrew explained absolutely everything he was doing, why he was doing it and how it would help me with my skin concerns which are primarily the redness on my cheeks and my dry skin. Backheads were removed and various tools were used on my skin which, to be honest, I was almost zoned out during as I was so relaxed. Unlike other facials I’ve had, there was no hard selling of the products used and instead, I was given a handful of samples for some of the products which were used on me that Andrew felt would be of benefit to my skin.

Luke absolutely loved his facial and it was great that the skin under the beard was targetted rather than just ignored in favour for the skin on show and I have to say that his skin looked so plumped and felt so soft we were so impressed.

My skin felt so good after we got out that I felt confident and happy enough walking around all day without putting any makeup on which is impressive for me and having the facial has really made me think about my skincare routine and I’m really working on improving what I do on a daily and weekly basis. Once we’d left the salon we each got an e-mail outlining some of the focus’ we should have over the next month alongside a rundown of the products which had been used which was so useful to have.

Have you ever had a facial that changed your outlook on skincare?

I love getting facials! I know nothing about skincare but I’m trying to learn so it’s nice to have a professional help out. That’s awesome that they email you about the products and stuff to work on . . . I am usually too relaxed to pay attention when the person tells me that at the end of my appointment haha.
