Monochrome Fashion Essentials

Now I have become a bit more adventurous with my clothing choices over the past 6-9 months but there’s nothing that I love more than a monochrome design. Having some white in an outfit stops it feeling as heavy and in the Spring/ Summer time it makes me look a little less like a wannabe goth.

The first item is this polka dot dress from ASOS (£30) which I am absolutely obsessed with and pretty much have worn every single week since buying it. It’s an incredibly flattering fit especially for someone a little curvier like myself as it comes in just under the bust and flares out slightly so there’s plenty of room with a flowy style. One thing I love is that it has short sleeves so I don’t feel like I need to always wear a jacket or cardigan with it as it covers the parts of me I am most self conscious about. The dress is currently available in the Tall and standard ASOS collections but there’s also a lot of different versions of this dress including a plain black, a floral print and a plain teal colour.

One thing I’ve been a bit obsessed with is this White Drop Crystal Necklace* (£12.99) from EMP. I always wear a short necklace but I’ve not been wearing long ones for a while so this has been a nice change. I love the length of it because it sits just below the neckline of most dresses and tops which is great because I’ve had so many over the years which seem to get lost in the clevage.

My next favourite is another monochrome zig zag dress*(£29.99) from EMP which has a plain black top and then a black and white zig zag pattern on the bottom.

It has spaghetti string vest straps but the great thing about them is they’re adjustable like a bra strap so you can tighten or losen this depending on your build and how you want it to sit. The top is a cami design and then the skirt flares out slightly to be like a skater design. It sits on me around knee length so it’s pretty great for the Spring/ Summer as you don’t need to wear leggings or tights.

Monochrome - Swim Wear from Simply Beach

One thing which I’ve been in much need of is a new swimming costume as my old one was just that really really old so this beautiful High Line Control Suit* (£36) from Simply Beach has been a great replacement. The swimming costume itself has a wrap front making it really flatterning something which is very important for me in swimwear as I’m conscious enough of my body never mind when I’m in a swimming costume. The costume itself is a really good fit and comfortable to wear especially as it has adjustable straps so I can tighten it to ensure the front doesn’t drop.

Alongside the swimsuit I have this beautiful Ko Phi Phi Sarog* from the brand’s Fantastie Collection which I know isn’t monochrome but I couldn’t not feature it. It’s part of the new Fantazie range from Simply Beach and is such a beautiful floral print without being too bright and in your face. The sarong itself is really soft and a great multi functional item as not only can you wear it over a swimsuit or bikini but you could also drape it over your shoulders as a cover up or jacket.

Pretty! As much as I love black, I prefer bold colours much more as they stand out n my skin. Not crazy about plain white, unless mixed with other colours, because the upkeep is just too much. Lol.
