I’ve always been very into homeware and buying things to make my space nicer, but as soon as I moved out kitchenware overtook most of my other obsessions as I finally had my own kitchen to buy things for. I think there’s something novel about having new surroundings to buy things for and with so many stores doing amazing kitchenware it’s where I’ve got most excited, especially when I’m at Ikea. Here are some of the kitchen gadgets which I’ve been loving lately:
The first thing is this brass plated bar tool* which has four in one functionality. At the end of the handle there is a bottle opener and then when you unscrew it there’s a corkscrew inside which is so handy as it’s not something that we have in the flat as we don’t drink wine. On the other end is a double shot measure and then when you turn it round you can use it as an ice smasher. Considering how small it is there’s so many uses for it and the ice smasher is something I didn’t know I needed until I got this through.
Over the past 18 months or so we’ve been accumulating a lot of Joseph Joseph items for the kitchen, so much so that I don’t think there’s a lot left for us to get. The latest item which has been an absolute godsend is this Y-Rack* in Grey which is a two-tier dish drainer perfect for space-saving in the kitchen. Now our kitchen isn’t tiny but anything which can maximise space is well received as you can put glasses and mugs at the bottom, cutlery at the side and plates at the top. As we use our dishwasher for most of our dishes this is the perfect amount of space for everything else and the grey colouring matches our Joseph Joseph sink bowl perfectly.
The next gadget to enter my kitchen has been a game changer for baking and it’s this batter dispenser*. The main way that I make a mess when it comes to baking is scooping the batter from my mixing bowl to the cake tins/ cupcake moulds but this has made the process so much easier. All you need to do is scoop all of the batter into the top and then with a simple press of the handle a valve at the bottom will open up to dispense the batter.
This has made my portioning so much easier so cupcakes I have tried have had the batter more evenly distributed and I’m sure it would work really well for things like Yorkshire puddings as well so I’ll be passing it over to my mum to trial at Christmas.
Cleaning items aren’t exactly the most exciting things but the Dishmatic Glide* isn’t just a bog standard brush. The handle is slightly curved and it’s amazing how much difference it makes to the comfort of cleaning. The brush head has a combination of staggered bristles and blades so it actually cleans items so much easier than other brushes I’ve previously used. It also helps with hygiene as there’s less chance of stuff getting trapped in the bristles. Plus it can be cleaned in the dishwasher which is a game changer.
One of the great things about this is it’s non scratch so it’s safe to use on delicate items which is great as I’ve scratched many a pan with old quite brittle brushes. This brush is just £3 so it isn’t going to break the bank but it might make cleaning a little easier and nicer.

To me dishmatic glide is useful. And it is good to see you writing on it. It is my favourite too.
That batter dispenser looks great, we love having pancakes and are really getting in to baking with the kids at the moment.
Good to see someone who is also obsessed with kitchen gadgets like I am! haha My house is covered in them. Looks like more things to add haha
I like that glide brush it sounds amazing. I am not so obsessed with kitchen gadgets which makes me unaware of this type of gadgets
I love cooking and these gadgets sounds a lot fun and helpful … great compilation! Thanks for sharing.
nice gadget i think this gadget will make work easier and faster thanks for sharing love the article.
This is an awesome choices, and I think my Mom would like them as well. She seems a diva in a kitchen 😀
Oh, I’m one who likes kitchen gadgets! I think I could definitely use that Y-shaped dishrack (we have a small kitchen and very limited countertop space). AND that scrubber – I wonder if it’s long enough to reach inside a coffee thermos? I gave my daughter and son-in-law one of those batter dispensers for Christmas, because they frequently make pancakes on weekends, with their little girls who LOVE to help (1 1/2, 4, and almost 6!)
These look like great products indeed. I love the look of the batter dispenser what a really helpful product that is!
These are must have kitchen gadget. I would love to get it too sometime soon.
I’m loving that batter dispenser! Like you I struggle to get the batter from the bowl into the cake tin and admit some of it drips or spills on to the worktop – Oops. This will certainly come in handy – thanks for sharing.
Oh I think I like the sound of the batter dispenser! My kids make such a mess when doing the cupcakes!
Oh wow I love the concept of the bar tool and how it has several uses. The kitchen can get really clustered so having versatile all-in-one products makes easy to keep a cleaner kitchen. I’m going to need to pick up a batter dispenser for my friend…I know she’ll love it.
I’d like an ice crusher for my ice tea!! I don’t know why crushed ice makes it taste colder, but it does to me. Weird, I know. 🙂
I’m trying to reduce the number of gadgets in my kitchen, not increase them!!! But I think that brass bar tool does look really lovely and useful, as I do enjoy making cocktails.
Great selection of gadgets. The bar tool looks fun and the dish brush looks very useful!
