I used to think that I actually didn’t use up a lot of products but doing these empties posts every six weeks or so has made me realize quite how many products I do use up. I’ve been trying to thin out my collection but I still have a lot of items left to use up so I don’t think these posts are going to get smaller anytime soon.
The first item I finished up was my Too Faced Hangover Primer which I have been trying to eek out for ages as I blooming love this primer. As I have reasonably dry skin on my cheeks and around my nose I need a hydrating primer to stop my foundation from going dry and cakey on my skin and this does just that. It’s super moisturizing and makes my skin feel great after using it, I’ve already repurchased a tube of this.
The first skincare item I used up recently is the Clinique Moisture Surge 72hr Hydrator which is my holy grail moisturizer. This has really helped me get some much-needed moisture back into my skin and it has helped my red cheeks go down. It’s more of a gel-like cream consistency so it sinks really quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave my skin feeling tacky which is why I tend to use it in the morning after I’ve washed my face. I’ve already repurchased this and will carry on each time I’m close to running out.
Next up is a Clinique travel sized mini of the Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly which I got in a recent gift with purchase. I was quite excited to use this as I’d heard great things about the moisture/ hydration in it but I wasn’t that impressed compared to the Moisture Surge hydrator, this is probably because the jelly is just 24-hour hydration compared to the moisture surge being 72hr. I wasn’t a huge fan of the jelly feeling as well as sometimes it didn’t feel like it was sinking into my skin so I won’t be repurchasing this.
The final skincare item is the Pixi Glow Tonic which I have really loved using. This is probably my second or third bottle of it I’ve finished because it’s been so good on my skin. As it has 5% Glycolic Acid in it I can feel it working on my skin and I do always feel like my skin is firmer and looks brighter after I’ve used it. I have repurchased some more Pixi Tonic but I’m trying out the other versions in the collection to see how they compare.
I finished off one of my perfumes which was the Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium which is one of my favourite scents and I am so sad to have used it up (plus how amazing does the bottle look?!) I’m really bad at describing scents but it has a slight floral edge without being too girlie and floral. I do love this perfume but I won’t be repurchasing it yet.
Next up is this mini Tokyo Milk perfume which I bought as part of a six-piece multiset from Sephora a year or two back. I initially bought them because the bottles were stunning but the scents are also beautiful. This one is more of a unisex, musky scent with Dark Vanilla, Sandalwood and Spices, the only thing I’m not keen on with these perfumes is that they don’t have a spray top so they’re not the easiest to use. While they’re pretty I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing as you can’t get them in the UK.
Next up are two deodorants which are the Sure Invisible Aqua which has been my go-to deodorant for a long time, and the Nivea Dry Confidence* which has been a newer discovery. I’m going to be honest, I haven’t noticed much of a difference between the two other than the Sure one being a lighter spray and the Nivea one needing less of a shake to stop the white marks at the beginning. I would repurchase either depending on what’s on offer.
Next up is a body spray which I’ve been using for a while from my last Bath and Bodyworks haul called Magic In The Air. It’s a really pretty sweet scent with vanilla, white iris and, almond flower notes but it isn’t sickly sweet, but it’s a nice kick first thing in the morning. I would repurchase but I’d love to try some different scents.
The shower gel that I’ve used up is a large Snow Fairy from Lush, I’ve actually had this left over since last Christmas as I’ve been trying to make it last, but so much so that this years is out again. Anyone whose smelt Snow Fairy will know how amazing it is, and I absolutely love much it smells like candy. I’ll definitely be repurchasing at least a bottle or two this Christmas.
The only shampoo I’ve used up is the John Frieda Radiant Red Shampoo which is my go to when I’ve recently had my hair dyed as it’s what my hairdresser recommends. Whenever I do use this I really feel that it does prolong the life of my red hair and I need anything I can get to do that. It’s a really nourishing shampoo and you don’t need to use much of it to get a good wash. I will definitely repurchase ready for next time I dye my hair.
The next three empties are all bubble baths as I don’t like having a bath without some. I have two Radox Soaks including the Muscle Soak which Luke used a lot when he had a bad back and the Feel Ready which has a beautiful sweet apple scent. Generally, I’ll use half a bottle per bath but I buy them at £1 each which is a really good deal. I’ve already repurchased another scent as they’re such good value for the amount of bubbles you get.
The other bubble bath was a Hype Bath Soak which came in a gift set I got last Christmas. This one is much creamier so it made the water softer on my skin and really nourishing but I didn’t think that it produced as many bubbles as bubble bars I have or the Radox bottles. I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing.
I managed to finish off a whopping four candles recently and you can see that it’s been a transition month as I had two sweeter scents and two warmer scents.
The sweeter scents included the Bath and Bodyworks Twisted Peppermint scent which is quite a strong candle with a kick of peppermint which is really fresh and sweet. I would repurchase this again but I don’t think Bath and Bodyworks still do this scent.
The next one is the Kiss Air Mint Choc Chip candle which smells just like the ice cream without it being sickly as the mixture of peppermint and chocolate balances it out. I would repurchase this but I don’t think Kiss Air still make candles.
The next two deeper more Autumnal scents include a Health Potion candle from Gametee which I bought from the Board Games Expo earlier this year. It has a really rich scent full of blackberries and raspberries and it’s super Autumnal. I don’t think I’d repurchase this just because there are so many other similar Autumnal candles which I can buy in larger candles.
The final candle I used up is the Pumpkin Pie* candle from Oundle Candles which I actually got last Halloween but didn’t finish off burning. The soy candle smells amazing with a mixture of pumpkin with ginger, cinnamon and vanilla which is total Autumnal vibes and the top of the candle had pumpkin and leave embellishments which looked really cool. The only negative was that due to the size and only a single wick it burned a lot in the middle but left a lot of candle around the outside, due to this I wouldn’t repurchase this candle.

I appreciate the honest reviews. I always wonder if I should try something new or not and this gives me some great ideas.
Ohh I love the sound of the candle, its just got to the time of year when I start lighting them again. I can understand not wanting to rebuy as it’s quite small though but I still might treat myself I think.
I found this type of post so refreshing compared to other blogs which all just promote the strong/good points only of products. This type of review is really helpful as you are relaying how you feel about products at the end of usage and in the context of whether you would repurchase. I really like this approach and enjoyed reading your honest views.
I complete agree with you about the Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly . It didn’t fit my skin at all and I ended up giving it away to a friend
I appreciate the honest reviews. I agree with you about the Jelly I always wonder if I should try something new or not and this gives me some great ideas. I really like your approach..
I love this series of empties! I haven’t tried any of the products you mentioned. Now that I read your honest review, I might consider some of them. Thank for the tips!
To be honest, I’ve never used any of these products, I don’t actually use many products but these do seem useful. I’ll try to keep these in mind anyway, thanks.
I just bought my friend some Pixi products for her birthday, including the Glow Tonic. I’m glad it’s so highly rated!
I’m surprised about the Clinique hydrating Jelly. I though it would absorb well given the brand. I really want to try the black opium.
Oh I love this post – it is so good to read what someone actually thinks about so many products. I really must try that Too Faced Primer. Kaz
I love scented candles and I’m also particular how long the burning time is not just the scent. Thanks for the feedback on the Oundle Candle.
Wha I’m really struggling to get is the right primer for me. But lucky you! Yours looks so great that you even had to repurchase it. Hope I get one as good too.
This is such a great post. I love reading about different products especially when someone shares the good and bad as it gives a realistic expectation of what to expect.
I have just finished my IT CC cream that I saw recommended on your blog – really need a new one as loved jt
Great honest reviews! Actually, this is my first time to read a review with empty brand bottles on them. Unique and nice way of showing your thoughts about the products. Love it!
