Seven Items I Love From Clinique And Couldn’t Be Without

Clinique City Block

Before this year I had only ever tried one Clinique product and after picking up my second item in January I am seriously hooked on the brand. This year I started off with their skincare range as the Moisture Surge range called out to me as someone with dry skin, but since then I’ve tried quite a few of the makeup products and there are some things which Clinique do so well.

Back in the Summer, ASOS did a Clinique beauty box which I picked up on the very first day it went on sale as I think these boxes are a great way to try out a whole range of products. One of the things which was included was the City Block Cream which is an oil-free face protector with a good level of SPF. I thought this would be more of a summer item due to the high SPF included but actually, it’s been something I reach for each and every morning. I find a lot of standalone SPF’s to be white in colour which doesn’t blend as well but this one has a nude colouring which blends so well into my skin. As I have quite an oily forehead and bridge and then dry cheeks I don’t want to add extra oil to my skin and this sinks perfectly into my skin and works really well underneath primer and foundations.

Clinique Foundation

Foundation has been something I’ve only recently got into from Clinique, and this was helped by a £10 off voucher I had from Boots, if that wasn’t a sign then I don’t know what was. I went to the stand in my local store and chatted about the foundation options with the rep and due to my dry-combination skin, we settled on the Superbalance Silk foundation which helps to control oil and shine but also has all-day moisturization which my skin always needs. It’s quite a lightweight formula and I’ve actually been loving the lighter coverage more recently as I’m trying to let my skin breathe more, on the plus side it has a bit of build-ability

The Airbrush Concealer on the other hand, I’ve had for quite a few months now, so long in fact that they seem to have changed the colour of the packaging since then. It had been a long time since I’d used a pen style applicator but actually, this works quite well with the fact that it’s actually a really light-weight concealer. It does a good job of airbrushing my undereye bags but it also is great for illuminating and lightening the area. The liquid itself is really creamy which makes it so easy to blend into the delicate undereye skin.

The one product I’ve had for quite a while is the Lash Building Primer which I actually bought in Sephora when I was in the States a while back. The primer is meant to condition and protect the lashes before you put on your mascara but I find that it just helps build my mascara bigger over the top and I feel that it helps it last longer. Just like primer for your face when I’m going out or just want bigger lashes I use this before and it works so well.

The Moisture surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator was the next item I bought from the brand and something I have already repurchased within 6 months which is great going for me as I never seem to finish products. The moisture surge range is incredible for drier skin as it’s gel-like so it isn’t greasy on the skin and it sinks straight in leaving a plump bouncy face underneath. The hydration it’s given my skin has been amazing especially when I’ve been dehydrated due to the heat in the summer and when I’m on holiday. This is probably my stand out product from the brand and something I can always see myself having my stash.

I’ve tried a few other Moisture Surge items in mini sizes and I have to admit I’m not as keen on jelly even though everyone else seems to rave about it. But there are still some products that I want to try.

Clinique Gift With Purchase

I’ve got quite a collection of mini’s from Clinique from both beauty boxes and a gift with purchase which is what the above products are from. One of the mini’s which I have loved is the Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm which is a solid balm when applies transforms into an oil which melts everything away and it’s non-greasy and non-drying. I have to admit I don’t use this to remove my makeup, I actually use it after my micellar water as a second cleanse and it does such a good job of this. I just use my fingertips to massive the balm over my skin and it does tend to pull up bits which my micellar water may have left behind.

The final item I’ve been loving from Clinique is the Pep Start Eye Cream which is designed to both hydrate and brighten the soft and delicate area underneath my eyes. The cream itself has a cooling sensation and I do find that it makes my under eyes look a little less puffy which is something I do suffer with. I use this most evenings at the very end of my skincare routine and it makes my eyes feel rested and ready for sleep but you are able to use it before makeup for a smooth application so I definitely need to give this a try to get my concealer to go on smoothly.

Have you ever tried Clinique?

I have clinique BB and CC creams – and blusher – and an eyeshadow palate – and an eyebrow kit which I believe they have stopped making. I LOVE the eyebrow kit and I’m gutted it’s going. It’s a failsafe brand for me!

I haven’t tried Clinique before, have been looking at some stuff recently as I get a bit older and more conscious of my skin care. It’s great when you find a brand that works for you, you’ve really tempted me to try now.
