*This is a collaborative post with Cotton Traders on Spring Fashion. They provided the items mentioned, but all words are my own
The official start of Spring was 20th March, and now the clocks have moved forward in the UK, and it’s kicked in. While I love the colder months, there’s nothing better than sunlight when you wake up. And it still being light when you head home after work.
And with the lighter mornings and evenings comes a little bit of sun. It’s not time to go out without a jacket or exposing your bare legs, but we’re getting there. And I’m so thankful I don’t need to wear a million layers inside my home.
Spring Fashion is all about a little pop of colour, some beautiful prints, and the start of sandal season. Cotton Traders helped me pick out a few new items to add to my wardrobe for this Spring.
I have gotten into shirt dresses over the past year. As a larger lady, they are quite flattering in style and usually pretty flowy. But the few in my wardrobe before now were all long-sleeved, so could get a bit warm at the best of times. To fit in with the in-between weather, I picked up this Midi Shirt Dress* (£45)
It’s floral and colourful but on a darker background, so suits the in-between weather. And this one has a drawcord at the waist which is really flattering and means I don’t need to wear a belt with it. A dress like this can easily be dressed up with the right accessories and some heels. Or can be dressed down with trainers and a black cardigan, my go-to way for wearing it.
Colour doesn’t come easily to me, but Spring is a great time of the year to experiment. Alongside trying brighter clothing, small details like çolored contact lenses can be an easy, low-commitment way to play with colour and refresh an outfit without stepping too far outside your comfort zone.
Every wardrobe needs a few stapes, and this short sleeve tie front top in fuchsia* (£29) is one of those pieces. I’ve been wearing it contrasted with dark jeans to balance my fear of too much colour. It’s lightweight, so great as it gets warmer, and it has a relaxed short sleeve with a V-neck. Personally, I prefer a V-neck to a rounded neck as I find it more flattering. I can imagine taking this on a summer holiday with me to stop my shoulders from burning and pairing it with denim shorts.
I couldn’t pass up this long-sleeved embroidered blouse* (£39) as it’s adorable. Despite being long sleeves, it’s lightweight and can be worn with a camisole underneath. Being a blouse, you can also keep the buttons undone and wear it as a super light jacket.
The lighter ivory top really screams Spring, and it has the cutest lemons embroidered all over. There are also a few floral versions as well, but the lemons just called out to me.
It’s a little too cold to be wearing sandals, but as the weather is so unpredictable it’s good to be prepared. These tan cutwork sandals* are my new additions for 2023 as I don’t have enough slip-on sandals.
They have flat thick soles so they’re comfortable to walk around in, and even though I have slightly wider feet they fit perfectly. I can imagine wearing them a lot over the summer when I’m just popping out and need a quick shoe, and they’ll be great for the holidays.

As the new season is approaching, I think it’s a great time to go through my closet and see what spring essentials I might need to add to my wardrobe.
That footwear looks really so comfy and perfect for the spring season.
Those sandles look really fashionable but also really comfortable! They seem perfect for the sprintime – as long as it’s not too wet.
Oh yeah, you can’t guarantee anything in the UK x
Those sandals look lovely! I fund spring quite hard in terms of fashion as I’m either too warm or too cold! Layering deffo helps a bit though
