For me nothing is more exciting at Christmas than a nice beauty item, be it perfume or a new makeup item, I am a sucker for beauty items. This year I’ve been a bit more targeted and asked for specific products but that’s just because my collection of beauty items is pretty excessive and I don’t need
anything much. Check out some of my top picks when it comes to beauty items for Christmas 2018.
Back when I worked in a jewellers, Seksy was a watch brand and until now I had no idea that they also had their own range of perfumes, but Seksy have a range of three different scents. I have Seksy Embrace* (From £25) which is more of a floral scent with top notes of orange blossom, pear and blackcurrant but has an undertone of iris, jasmine and patchouli. This makes it such a fresh scent which lingers around for a long time but isn’t too overpowering for everyday wear. For me I love getting new scents, especially ones like this that I would never be able to go and smell in the shops for myself.
You can grab 10% off any Seksy Beauty scent until 31st December by using code RHIAN10.
As I use brushes on an everyday basis I do find over time they wear down and it doesn’t matter how many times you clean them they don’t look quite right, so a new brush set is a great gift for Christmas. The Brushworks HD Complete Face Set* (£22) covers all the bases for what you’ll want for you face to apply, blend, contour and define. Or you can do what I did and choose individual brushes, I have the foundation, blusher and concealer brushes which start from just £5.99. The brush handles themselves are ready solid and feel really nice when holding them and the bristles are really soft but they have some hold in them so are great for blending cream and liquid makeup.
A great thing about the brand is that they are cruelty-free and vegan-friendly so there’s nothing nasty going into the process of making them.
If you want something pretty unique then go for a personalized Latest in Beauty* box where you can choose the items which will feature inside your box. You have two options with the boxes you can subscribe and choose between 3 and 9 products a month, or you can buy a one-off box if you just fancy trying a few new products. The great thing is you can make sure that everything inside the box are things that you’ll use as if you’re anything like me opening subscription boxes can be disappointing when there are products just not right for you.
I had the Beauty Guru box which featured 9 items and I am so happy with them all as I know I’ll make use of every single item in there from the Garnier Micellar water and sheet mask through to the Sanctuary Spa body scrub and some new tools like a beauty sponge and a blusher brush. This is a truly personal box and means you can get exactly what you know someone will love.
I love beauty Christmas crackers as you always tend to find standout hero products from a brand and the Let It Glow Christmas Cracker Set* (£20) includes some weather appropriate items now the temperature has dropped considerably.
There’s a chocolatey Radiant Glow Face Mask to revitalise and buff the skin which I found so gentle even with the slight gritty feeling in it. Then there was a Lip Shine with a very soft chocolate scent which is packed with Cacao Butter so it glides on the lips and is really nourishing.
As a brand Evolve Beauty make all their items in small batches in their Hertfordshire studio to ensure that the ingredients are fresh, and everything made is vegan, cruelty-free and eco-friendly. Check out the rest of the Christmas gifts here.
I’ve tried a few items from Angela Langford before and the latest item I’ve been trying out which would make a great Christmas present is the Bloom and Glow oil* (£20.50). The oil was voted by Good Housekeeping as their #1 Nourishing Face Oil which beat off a lot of high street brands which is high accolade indeed. The oil is anti ageing and is there to keep your skin glowing and radiant which is done with the inclusion of Chia Seed & Sea Buckthorn which help to improve the skin’s elasticity, calm inflammation and restore radiance.
I’m all up for anything which can calm the redness on my cheeks and make my skin feel really glowy and amazingly I started to notice results after only 3-4 uses which is quite quick for an oil that you use at the end of your skincare routine. It’s not too oily which is something I really appreciate as my TZone can be quite oily anyway.
I love a good peel off face mask as they’re so satisfying to peel off and a metallic mask just makes the whole process so much more enjoyable when you’re doing your skincare routine. Not all of us have £50 to drop on one of the Glamglow metallic masks, but T-Zone have some beautiful metallic masks in silver and Rose each with its own properties. The Silver mask is for Skin Clearing* (£5.99) where it helps to purify and moisturize the skin, and the gold mask is for Brightening* (£5.99) where Vitamin C within helps to brighten and clear the skin.
I have been using the silver mask quite a few times while I’ve been having pamper sessions and baths and it’s a nice easy peel off at the end and not at all painful like some masks which I have tried. There’s also been a noticeable difference after using them where my skin has felt a little plumper which is always good to see.
I am a huge fan of the Bioderma Sensibio H20* (From £5.10) as it’s a super hydrating micellar water and what could be cuter than a small 100ml bottle which is perfect for travelling. At just £5.10 it’s a great stocking filler or part of a DIY beauty box and if you know anyone who’s not tried the brand it’s a great entryway point to try. I find this micellar water so hydrating and it doesn’t feel like it’s stripping anything from my skin which some cheaper waters do. One of these sells every three seconds worldwide so you’d be in great company with this.
The Hydrabio Cream* (£15) is a great winter time product as it’s a deeply hydrating cream which is really good for use in the evening as it sinks into your skin really well but also seems to retain a good layer on your skin.
I am a long time fan of the Olverum Bath Oil* (£32) and don’t have a single bath without it anymore as it not only smells really nice with a blend of essential oils but it is also really softening on the skin. You only need to put half a cap full (5ml) into your bath for it to work so it lasts a long time, I’ve been using my current one since February. As you’re only using a tiny bit all of the oil is absorbed into your skin so there’s no greasy residue left over afterwards.
I find I have baths to relax and unwind so the oil is good at relaxing and calming me, much like aromatherapy oils do. The 125ml version which I have is enough for 25 baths which even if you have every single week will still last you 6 months which is a great investment for something which will leave your skin feeling super smooth.
You can’t go wrong with some indulgent Shower Gels at Christmas and the new Palmolive Aroma Moments Shower Gels are just right for this as they’re a little bit special but aren’t going to break the bank if you’re going to put together a mini beauty hamper.
The So Luminous Shower Gel* (£1.50) has Macadamia Oil and Peony extract in it so the skin will be left velvety smooth and soft without feeling greasy. The scent is slightly sweet which when used in the shower leaves everything smelling so nice. Whereas the Just Fabulous Shower Gel* (£2) is very similar but has Avocado Oil and Iris extract within so the scent is slightly more muted in this one. They both lather up well and really nourish the skin when you use them.
At this time of the year full-body moisturizing is so important especially if you’re outdoors quite a bit. The Hempz Tahitian Vanilla & Ginger Herbal Body Moisturiser* (£7.49) is a really rich moisturizer and will help to condition, nourish and soothe the skin. It has Vanilla Extract within which will help to calm and soothe the skin but it’s not too strong, just enough to linger on your skin and smell sweet and fresh. It has Ginger Root Extract which is an anti-inflammatory to help stimulate, renew and hydrate the skin and I did see this as soon as I put it on my skin.
I’m usually pretty bad when it comes moisturizing my body but I do love how it feels afterwards so I’m trying to get in the habit of doing it at least when I get out of the bath. It’s a really light moisturizer so it’s one you could easily use every single day.
Along the theme of moisturizing products, this Sanex Zero% Body Moisturiser* (£5.99) is another great option to add in as a beauty stocking filler or if you’re making up a collection of beauty gifts as it’s really creamy so it’s such a treat on the skin. It contains 0% parabens, 0% colourants and is fragrance-free so it’s a great option if you have more sensitive skin or just don’t like anything which is scented.
The matching Sanex Zero% Moisturising Senstitive Skin Hand Cream* (£3.99) would work really well alongside it as it’s really fast acting and doesn’t make your skin greasy so you can get straight back to work afterwards. The moisture locks in for a long time so you won’t need to keep reapplying but at 75ml it’s a great travel sized option as well.
There seems to be a bit of theme with these last few items as it’s another moisturizing item but this one is more for those who have really dry or even cracked skin. This box from O’Keeffe’s is the Hardworking Skin Care Set* (£14.99) and features some of their best selling products including The Working Hands Cream, The Healthy Feet Cream and, the Lip Repair Balm so you have all bases covered.
Whether you work outdoors and get dry, cracked hands on a regular basis or you just suffer at this time of the year this will keep your skin as moisturized and healthy as possible. For the hand cream you can apply it as and when you need it but the most effective times for moisturizing dry skin are after washing your hands, after bathing and at bedtime. With the Healthy Feet cream, it’s best to use this after exfoliating the skin after having a bath or at bedtime and the lip balm does what it says in the name.
