How often do you go to order a pizza and think this would be so much better with onions or chicken?! And how often do you create a DIY pizza for delivery and choose so many options it’s going to end up costing £30 for a pizza?! We’ve all been there! That’s why the concept of MOD pizza is so amazingly unique. I’d noticed MOD in both Leicester Square- London and Borehamwood and it had been on my to go to list for ages but I’d never got round to it, that is until they opened a branch in Watford last week.

Restaurants in Watford

There’s so much work going on in Watford that stores and restaurants are opening left, right and centre but MOD is so different from what we have already. The concept is simple you can choose one of the classic pre-made pizzas or you can go for a MOD pizza which is a single cost regardless of what toppings you fancy going for. If you’re vegan or lactose-free you’re covered with dairy-free cheese and for vegan’s there is a whole host of vegan toppings available. Gluten Free? There’s a base covered for that as well.

Choosing your toppings at MOD Pizza

MOD Pizza is basically like a Subway for pizza’s, so you walk along with someone asking what toppings you want and you can choose as many or as little as you want. I started off with a red sauce base, garlic rub and mozzarella. Then it was time for some chicken, roasted red peppers, mushrooms and red onions, and it ended with Parmesan and Roasted Garlic. So all-in-all I kept things quite safe but there were so many options you could go there 1000 times and have a different combination each time.

Once you’ve paid up you get a buzzer to let you know when your pizza is ready and the team will bring it to you either to your table if you’re eating in, or to you in a takeaway box if you’re going to take it home to eat. My pizza took about 7 minutes to cook and arrive at my table and I’m glad it was so quick as I was pretty much salivating waiting for it, I was so excited.

Drinks choices at MOD Pizza

To keep me going until my pizza arrive I opted for a bottomless drink and I went for the traditional lemonades where I picked a mango lemonade which I can genuinely say is one of the best drinks I have ever had.  You can choose a regular refillable soft drink, various canned drinks including alcohol or water so there’s something for everyone.

MOD pizza review

My pizza arrived pre-cut which I was so happy about as it’s a pet peeve of mine when I have to carve my own pizza as I am no good at cutting pizza and I end up with some mega slices and some bite-sized chunks. I can happily say that I demolished the pizza in a matter of minutes as it was cooked perfectly; the base was crispy on the edges but soft underneath, the cheese was melted to perfection and the toppings worked so well together.

Considering my pizza only cost £7.87 I was incredibly impressed not just with the quality but the generosity of the number of toppings. You can grab a great filling pizza and a drink for a tenner which is hard to come by in restaurants now.

I’ve never heard of MOD Pizza before, but hands up I do love a pizza and I like the idea of being able to create your own as often the premade ones I always think oh I wish I could add this, or take away that.

Oh wow this is so perfect! I love onion, sweetcorn and pineapple on pizza, which strangely enough isn’t served in many places so MOD Pizza is the place for me 🙂

We have one in Nottingham and I keep meaning to try it out as I love creating my own pizza (although we usually do this at our local supermarket). I love the speed in the service from selecting your toppings to it being ready in less than 7 minutes
