I’m pretty sure all of us have been to a Walkabout at some point in our lives either during our drink-fuelled student years or to watch a massive sporting event. Up until the end of last year, the Walkabout in Watford was a little tired around the edges so their refurbishment just before Christmas was well overdue. When we first walked in I couldn’t actually believe it was the same place, it’s amazing what a change in layout, additional lighting and opening up a place can do to how it looks.
As soon as you walk in you’re greeted by three main areas, a comfortable seating area near the front which had some beautiful armchairs that I’d love to have in my future home. It’s more the area you’d sit in for a few drinks after work or for some food, then there are the high bench style seating areas posed in the perfect position for the many screens scattered around the bar, and then there are the booths perfect for groups.
The bar itself has been extended along the whole side of the bar and there’s so much choice including a new craft beer section. We decided to stick to our trusty favourites with me grabbing a Woo Woo and Luke grabbing a gin and tonic. Their gin selection was pretty extensive but their Westwind Cutlass gin was an Aussie made one so we had to go for that. For the craft beers, they had a mango one and although I’m not a beer fan I’d love to give that a try next time.
If you’re a sports fan Walkabout show a lot of the major sporting events including football and they do parties for things like the Super Bowl, which is something I’d love to go and experience. There are two huge video walls behind the bar, a large noon-obtrusive screen at the very back and individual screens around all the booths and bench seating and the team can indiviudally control each one so if there are a few different things at once they can please everyone. Fancy tech there!
Foodwise Walkabout used to have quite an extensive menu but they’re trialling a few things at different branches to par it back and ensure what they serve is consistantly great. At the Watford branch, they had a burger bar where you can chose from a single, double or triple patty burger with a range of toppings. The patty options include beef, fried chicken and a vegetable and soya bean burger. Luke’s always pretty tame when it comes to his burgers but I got one filled with cheese, bacon and carmalised onion jam. It was pretty messy to eat but so satisfying and just £6.95 for the double patty burger and chips.

I’ve been to a couple. Years ago for my 21st I went to a walkabout as part of our club hopping. (this was way before their refit) It was wonderful! Might I add their toilets are amazing. I have also been to Blackpool’s during a little break out there.
Never had their food, maybe I should one day!
What a lovely looking Walkabout, I’ve always seemed to feel they have quite a big community spirit going on with them I know when Pokemon Go came out they arranged walks around the area and then everyone back for nibbles and drinks. Which amazed me as I didn’t think a restaurant would ever do something like that.
oh I used to LOVE Walkabout in my twenties! I havent been in such a long time, I’d love to go back and try one, love that they do food!
I havn;t been to a Walkabout for so many years. It sunds sensible that they have pared the menu back, so they can offer consistently good food. Mich x
I use to go to my local Walkabout every Friday night – I don’t remember their being burgers though, only rum!

Wow not been to a walkabout in years, I am talking at least 10, I feel old haha xx
It’s looking great! I haven’t been to Walkabout Watford in many many years so I might need to pop by and check it out for myself!
Your pictures are awesome. The new Walkabout looks gorgeous and the food seems delicious. I’m drooling over the burger and fries you got in there!
I LOVED my local Walkabout in my younger boozier years, it’s a long time since I’ve been in one though. It looks like they’ve done a great job with the makeover and the burgers sound delicious! I’m going to have to give my local a try again now, hopefully they’ve got a burger bar too.
Sounds like a lovely time! It’s so nice to pop out for a meal to place you like.
I have to be honest and say I’ve never been to a Walkabout before! This one looks lovely though. I love the decor and the food looks scrumptious!

Truth be told, I’ve never even heard of Walkabout before, let alone visited one. Is this an English chain? Sounds like a fab place!
Now, this looks like my kinda place! Great aesthetic and the food looks incredible too!
I love the new look and the wall art 🙂 my local walkabout definitely needs a face lift haha
