I’ve been rambling about moving for a little bit now but it’s officially happened and we’re back at my parents. As most of you who have read my blog in the last few months know, me and Luke have moved in with my parents for an undefined period of time (likely to be around a year) in order to do some major saving to go towards future home renovations and whatnot.

As we have too much furniture that we want to hold on to and a Pop Vinyl collection which adds up to about 130 *eek* we needed to get a storage unit. We didn’t need a storage unit too big as we’re quite lucky that there’s space in my parents house for us to bring a few of our furniture bits and we’ll be taking over every ounce of storage space we come across. I spent months going through every single area in our old flat to work out what needed to come with us, what we could get rid of and what was just going to have to head into storage such as special clothing like my old  prom dress and bridesmaid dresses. As we’re trying to live in mainly one room there are some things we’ve done to make our temporary space more our own.

Making our space feel more personalised with a Poster Collage

Back in our flat, I had quite a number of photographs around the place from frames on shelves to prints clipped to my notice board. But now we’re in one room we just don’t have the space for me to add loads of photos around but the Poster Candy hanging collage* has been able to combat that. I created this collage through the website by choosing photos I had saved and some from social media so I could add a bit of personality into our otherwise pretty plain room. The actual ordering process was so easy and it arrived really quickly.

I chose the hanging version as we’ve been putting things up with command hooks in our new bedroom and the magnetic hangers just go either side of the poster and then you hang up the cord so it’s super easy. As they’re only magnets it means when we move into our house if I want to put the print into a frame I easily can. Just having this up in our room makes me smile whenever I look at it.

Sheep Toilet Roll Holder

Making our space feel more like home with a sheep toilet roll holder

Why would you want to hide away your space toilet roll when you have something as cute as Baabara the toilet paper holder sheep*?! Now a lot of what we’ve taken to my parents has been practical, things we need and things that we can’t be without, but some of the items like this are just there to make us smile. Moving from a large two bedroom flat into a single room was always going to be tough and it’s pretty cramped but anything that can make us happy is an added bonus.

Thankfully we have an en-suite attached to our room so a little more space and Baabara sits in there holding 7 rolls of paper to really show the best affect of her shape so we’re never low on toilet paper (see practical as well!) There’s not enough space for us to put it on the wall but there are fixings at the back which can allow you to do this. When we move into our house I can imagine how great this would look fixed on the wall in a downstairs toilet.

Egyptian Cotton Towels

Having a slice of luxury in a temporary home with Egyptian cotton towels

You know when you go away and little things just remind you that you’re not at home?! For me, towels are one of those as we love to have super soft fluffy towels so we’ve taken our Cleopatra Egyptian Cotton Towels* to feel a bit like home. For me, there’s nothing worse than having a scratchy nonabsorbent towel when you’re trying to dry your hair or wash your hands. These ones are 650 gsm which is really soft as they’re made from the finest quality certified Egyptian Cotton which is great for drying my face after my morning and evening face cleansing.

Not only are they soft but they’re actually absorbent, I’m not sure if you’ve had towels before where it doesn’t matter how hard you try and dry your body the towel just doesn’t soak anything in. We have grey towels as we thought it doesn’t matter what colour scheme we go for in our future bathroom it will fit in.

Leesa mattress with a pile of lazy time things like books, a blanket and a mug

Sleeping well with a Leesa mattress

I have been lucky enough to work with Leesa on a few different occasions and one thing I was dreading about moving back home was not being able to take our own mattress. Our bed in the flat was a king size and the bed we’re in now is a double which is taking some getting used to. I was so happy when Leesa agreed to work with me again and we managed to get ourselves a double mattress to use at my parents which means the bed feels just like our one at home did.  We’ve put our king size mattress in the storage unit but the great thing about having this means when we move we have a mattress for our spare bedroom.

Friday night drinks in style with honeycomb high ball glasses

We’ve tried to be really picky with the kitchen/barware that we’ve taken to my parents but I always think a nice set of glasses is just what you need. This set of honeycomb high ball glasses* comes from Red Candy and are what I like to use for a good gin and tonic as I prefer holding these to the balloon shaped glasses.

There’s no denying how beautiful they are with the gold coloured honeycomb patterning which not only looks pretty but also gives a bit of extra grip to the glasses. I’m sure these will get a lot of use over the next year but once we’ve moved into our house these will be a great addition to the bar area we’ll have.

I love the hanging poster collage idea!
My landlord won’t let us hang stuff on the wall so I’ve bought a lot of those “leave no marks” hangers – might have to put one of these on one!
