Caribbean Dreaming – Reasons I Want To Explore Aruba

but the reasons I want to explore Aruba are all my own

I’ve just had my very first experience of the Caribbean having spent 10 days in St Lucia and now I’m already ready to set my sites on even more Caribbean islands. Aruba is an island just 19.6 miles long and 6 miles across in the Southern part of the ocean nestled in South America.

With so many flight options from London you’ll have plenty of choice to get there. Here are some of the reasons I want to explore Aruba.

More sunny days than other Caribbean islands

Due to its location, Aruba has more sunny days than any other Caribbean islands meaning it’s good to visit all year round, although peak time is January – March. We headed to St Lucia in March and everyone said to us it was the most popular time, but unlike St Lucia, Aruba doesn’t seem to have a ‘rainy’ season.

Many people say that during the so-called rainy months it pretty much rains at night which for most of us on holiday isn’t a massive deal. The temperature is an average 82 degrees all year round which is pretty good considering how cold it can get in the UK during the same months. So, of course, one of the reasons I want to visit Aruba is due to the sunshine as it’s so essential to get some sun in your life.

Underwater snorkelling in Aruba

Go scuba diving in Aruba

I have really wanted to go scuba diving on quite a few recent trips but I hadn’t finished my training beforehand and didn’t want to take time off from my sunbed. But before going on another trip I want to do my online and pool parts of my PADI training so I can get my qualifications abroad.

The sea looks so clear and crisp whenever I spot images of Aruba, and there’s so much to see from damsel fish, parrot fish and some sea turtles. There are plenty of activity related reasons I want to explore Aruba and scuba diving won’t be forgotten.

Casibari Rock Formations in Aruba

Explore the caves at the Arikok National Park

A trip to Aruba would definitely include plenty of relaxing and sunbathing but I’d be keen to spend a few days of the trip exploring. Arikok National Park is somewhere I’d have on my to visit list as the caves are accessible to the public during the day and you can get tours around them. With plenty of cave paintings, bats, stalactites and stalagmites it’s the kind of thing you won’t see in many places.

One of the reasons I want to explore Aruba is due to how unique the island seems and the Guadrikiri Cave is one of those. The cave extends for about 100 feet with harmless bats hanging out in the darker corners, but due to holes in the roof sunlight streams through which would be stunning to see.

St Nicolas street art in Aruba

Explore the street art and murals in St Nicolas

I am a huge fan of street art having done a walking street art tour in London not that long ago so I’d love to see what Aruba has to offer. San Nicolas is on the south-east of the island and some of the artwork looks so pretty. Artists from all over the world have participated in the Aruba Art Fair and left their marks behind.

A lot of the artwork looks really colourful and full of life which I really like so it would be great to explore alone or join part of a group.

Birds eye view of people kayaking in Aruba

Explore the ocean in a clear kayak

What’s better than being out in the sea and close to nature? Being able to see everything below you swimming around in a clear kayak. You can steer yourself around the turquoise waters of some of Aruba’s beaches such as Mangel Halto, Boca Catalina or Nikki Beach and get up close with the marine life.

There have to be advantages to having clear waters and a clear kayak gives you all the views, and come on they look amazing!

Win a trip to Aruba

Can you imagine yourself on holiday in Aruba? Well, it could become that little bit easier as the Aruba Tourism Authority are running a competition to win a trip for two. The trip will include return flights and a 7-night stay (including breakfast) at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. You’ll also get a Palm Pleasure’s sunset sail aboard a kitted out catamaran with De Palm Tours and airport transfers. Convinced? Well you can enter the competition right here. The competition opens at 3pm on 24th April 2019 and closes on 22nd May 2019.

I was so lucky to go on an amazing trip to Aruba last year and still think abut it. The water was so warm and clear and the food was out of this world. I visited a jewellery making workshop when I was thiere and made my own glass bead bracelet. There is tremendous street art too. Definately go if you have the chance
