Anyone who’s read my blog before will probably know that me and Luke went on a dream holiday to St Lucia in Mid-March. We had spent a long time looking at holidays as it was Luke’s 30th birthday. And a 2-for-1 Virgin Holiday deal made this trip feasible. It was still a lot of money. But we knew that due to house saving we probably wouldn’t go away for a while. I looked for quite a few Sandals Holiday reviews before I went away but other than finding some Trip Advisor bits I couldn’t find much.
When I came back I made sure to do a Sandals Regency La Toc, St Lucia Resort Review as it’s the kind of thing I’d have loved to read before going. For anyone who’s thinking about booking a trip or just wants a super indulgent holiday here are six reasons why I’m glad we booked a Sandals holiday.
In our particular resort, there were 9 restaurants each with a different type of cuisine. We had Caribbean, Italian, Sushi, Japanese, Mediterranean, French, A Pizzeria and a few mixed places. Considering we’re both reasonably fussy eaters we still had loads of choices. Bar the Sushi and Japanese (Luke isn’t a fan) we ate at every restaurant available. And we didn’t have a bad meal all holiday. Or even a mediocre one.
I know that a lot of places do all-inclusive holidays but the level of food at Sandals is incredible. Every dinner is a-la-carte so there are no buffet situations, and the food is very high quality.
One thing that you’re told before a Sandals holiday is that you’re physically not allowed to tip (unless you have a butler). Tips are included in the holiday cost and I guess it’s done so that staff are all equally paid. But it’s quite nice so not have to think about paying or tipping at the end of the meal.
We’ve all been there at the end of a meal when you’re pretty tired and just want to go. But you have to get the staffs attention, order the bill, then pay before you can go. At a Sandals resort, you can just get up and go when you’re done with your food. We found this so refreshing.
There’s so much to do on-site at Sandal’s that are included in the price of your holiday. If you’re keen on your water sports you can go kayaking or learn to sail. Maybe you’re a water baby. If so you can go snorkelling or even scuba diving and all dives are free (if you’re trained).
If you like to stay active there’s a gym/ fitness centre. Alongside a whole host of classes you can get involved in. There are tennis courts and other sports facilities on site if you want to add a competitive edge. And every single day there are loads of organised activities. From foam parties and water volleyball to quizzes and beer drinking competitions.
We all take snaps of the gorgeous surroundings and views (like the photos in this post), but sometimes it’s hard to get photos of yourselves. At Sandals, there are on-site photographers who can snap you in the pool, on the beach, on day-trips or just around the resort.
You can also book a free photo shoot to capture some posed photos. Originally we weren’t going to do this but changed our minds near the end and I’m so glad we did. We managed to get some lovely photos which I am so happy with, and without them, we wouldn’t have got anything as nice.
For a resort which was for all intents and purposes full of people we never had to queue at the bar. We never waited for a table at a restaurant and rarely ever had people around us in the section of the pool we liked. It felt almost like we were in a very small world populated by just a handful of people. Not a huge resort with 9 restaurants and as many bars which it in fact was. The actual site was pretty big which I think added to the sense of space. You had the choice of three different pool spaces, and some of the rooms had their own pools. There was the sea, or you could be in the spa or doing an activity.
Sandals resorts are adults only so there are no kids running around. Now I’m not saying that having kids in a resort is a bad thing, but we went away to totally relax and switch off. So for us it being peaceful was a must which for us means no kids about. Sandals is predominantly a couples holiday and for us having no kids about was a blessing.
A lot of the people we spoke to on our trip had kids so having a holiday away to relax must have been quite nice.

My sister and I were caught out recently on a Safari as we’d forgotten to look into tipping ettiquette before traveling!
Oh no, I hope you didn’t end up totally overbudget x
Sandals sounds like such a great place to book a holiday though. Not having to worry about tipping sounds great, I always worry when abroad if I’m doing it right as so many places have different norms.
I’m definitely considering a Sandals holiday after seeing how much fun you were having!
The choice of different foods and cuisines would definitely be a selling point for me!
Oh I wish more places would add the tips in to the cost of the holiday. There’s SO many people that do so much for you on holiday it’s hard to know what to give to who, not forgetting the people behind the scenes like the chefs who probably never get anything.
Yep totally agree, it can get expensive. I think they do it so no staff feel pulled to the people who they know tip well. Plus they’re all paid a reasonable wage x
I’ve always fancies trying a Sandals resort but I now have to wait until the kids are older and just hubby and I can go and enjoy it. Mich x
I have always fancied a Sandals holiday, since having our daughter the only time we have been away is for our friends 50th birthday and mine without any kids, and do tend to switch off to other kids around us. Currently looking for my husbands 50th so will keep this in mind x
Definitely a great option for a special holiday. I hope you manage to get away for just a bit to relax and focus on yourself x
i have friends who have been on adult only holidays and they loved it. Sandals is supposed to amazing
It really is such a special holiday x
It really is so luxurious x
I am nodding at all the reasons you’ve listed and honestly its something I am looking for in a next bae-cation.
The fact you don’t have to factor tipping in is a reason to book in itself! I’m just back from New York and I think I spent as much on tips as I did on the holiday!
Katie xoxo
Yeah America is so tough when it comes to tipping x
I have never heard of this holiday firm before but after reading this post I will be looking into them. Thanks!
