Happy November to you all. I can’t believe I’m saying those words as it only feels like I blinked and it was September. It’s officially the Christmas season now, and even those trying to avoid it can’t escape the festivities. Almost all shops have their Christmas presents out and I’m sure it’s only a matter of days before the Michael Buble album comes out of hiding once again.

Thankfully I’m quite well prepared this year for the festive season with a lot of presents bought. I just need to find some time to do some wrapping which is always a long job for me. If your family are anything like mine and love food and a good drink this guide might come in handy. Check out some of my picks for food and drink gifts.

Coloured red wine glasses

Every house needs a good selection of wine glasses and these Personalised Fizz Coloured Wine Glasses* (£45) are great for just that. Coming in a set of four they’re great for putting around the dinner table. Especially if like me and Luke you don’t drink wine, so this is the perfect amount of glasses for both of our parents when they come round to visit. The glasses themselves have a decent weight to them so they don’t feel fragile or flimsy. But they’re not too heavy, because who wants to drink wine and feel like they’re lifting weights?!

With these glasses, you can personalise each one with a message. You can’t see too well in my photos but I went for ‘Happy Sipping’ on each glass. But if you want you can assign each glass to a person so they have their own glass to drink from. The bubble design on the bottom is really unusual and the colours are so vibrant there’s no chance you’ll mix your glass up with someone else’s.

Meat tenderiser

Me and Luke are complete carnivores at home, and if you’re anything like us then this Marinator and Tenderizer* (£19.99) will come in very handy in the kitchen. Of course, you don’t have to use this for meat, the marinator could be really good for tofu or Quorn. You can do two tasks in one for this contraption both tenderising your meat and marinating it at the same time.

The needle-sharp knives at the end will pierce the meat and marinate it with whatever sauce you put inside. I love the idea of doing this with Nando sauce in chicken to try and recreate their taste. Or using a garlic butter with steak to get the taste throughout. Even though the device looks a little intimidating it’s very easy to use.

Christmas coffee

Every year I make my dad his own food and drink hamper and fill it with goodies that he’d never buy for himself. And fairtrade* have a great range of items for just that reason. In the top image is a really interesting Pomegranate chocolate from Chocolate & Love. And above is a beautiful aromatic Christmas blend coffee.

Buying items from Fairtrade you know you’re ensuring that all the farmers and people creating the items are paid fairly. So you’re doing your bit for the wider community too which is so important. But it’s not just paying it’s about negotiating better terms for the workers, decent working conditions and local sustainability.

Personalised chocolate chip cookie

This Personalised Chocolate Chip Cookie* (£8.99) may well be one of my favourite things in this guide. I’m not at all swayed just because it has my name on it, promise. The chocolate chip cookie can be personalised with up to 25 icing characters to make it a truly unique treat. Each cookie is baked fresh and has a 14-day shelf life, but I can promise it won’t last that long. I had to keep this aside to take photos and it was so tempting to bite into it every time I got a glimpse. Even a few days later it tasted fresh with a slight crunch on the outside and a soft gooey middle.

If you’re buying a gift for someone and chocolates or mince pies just aren’t their thing then you should think about a cookie. Not only that but if you ship it directly to the lucky person it’s letterbox sized. So it can be delivered very easily.

Warners apple and pear gin

Firstly can we just appreciate how beautiful this bottle of gin is?! I know it’s all about the taste of what’s inside, but generally, packaging and bottles play a big part in helping me choose items. This bottles of Warners Gin has been created in collaboration with Joules, hence the pretty floral pattering on the bottle. Joules are celebrating their 30th anniversary to mark the milestone Warners created this.

If you’re not sold on the packaging alone then the taste will surely sway you. This bottle is Apple and Pear Gin* (£40) is full of 1/3 pure apple & pear juice so it’s fresh and fruity. Alongside this local elderflower is used in every bottle for a sweet spicy scent. Despite it being very fruity it’s not overpowering which I find some fruit-based gins can be.

9 jars of flavoured coffee

Coffee lovers can rejoice now as this Christmas Stash Box* (£22.50) from Beanies is full of 9 jars of unusually flavoured coffee. In the box I have above I’ve got 1 of each flavour from Christmas pudding and mince pie to cinder toffee and gingerbread. But this is totally customisable, so if you want multiples of the same jar you can. If you know who you’re buying for won’t like a certain flavour you can opt to keep it out. This means you’re only going for what you know (or hope) someone will love.

You can choose to give the box as it is with the stunning packaging, or you can choose to separate them out. Maybe you want to add a jar or two to a few different presents. Or add them in as stocking fillers or with secret Santa gifts, and you can! The coffee itself is sugar, gluten, dairy and nut-free so it’s suitable for everybody. And it’s only 2 calories a cup full so very good for your health if you’re watching what you eat and drink.

Thorntons chocolate elf

It wouldn’t be Christmas without some chocolate goodies and Thorntons have some great options this year. This Milk Chocolate Cheeky Elf* (£8) is made from milk chocolate and it has some great detailing around its face. You can even get an iced personalised message on the elf for free. Sometimes I look at these chocolates and think they look too nice to eat. But then I remember how good the milk chocolate is and it’s always so satisfying biting into something like this.

There are so many great advent calendars out, but you can’t go wrong with a good chocolate one. And this cheeky elf advent calendar* (£6) is such a good price for the great quality chocolate you get inside. There are chocolates to last each day and you can even get a personalised bar for the final day with a name on it. I think the price of the personalised items at Thorntons are great. Having a name iced onto the yummy chocolate makes all the difference.

Rock on oven gloves

As soon as I saw these Rock Cake Double Oven Gloves* (£23.50) I knew I needed them in my life. Usually a pair of oven gloves isn’t exciting, least of all as a Christmas present. But these ones buck the trend and would be great for any rock music lover. There are some great band name puns across the gloves including ‘Jimi Breadstix’ and ‘Rage Against The Mashing’. And the design of the gloves themselves is great and colourful.

The gloves themselves are really comfortable to wear and they’re safe to put in the washing machine. Win win! There are two other variations of the gloves if rock music isn’t your thing. Check out some of the other stocking fillers available from Red Candy.
