This is a collaborative post but all thoughts and opinions are my own
At the start of 2018 I started a life updates post which featured my plans for the year, and while not everything went exactly to plan I have to say 2018 has been an amazing year with so many positives and ups. I’m definitely one for seeing the positives in life and the past 12 months have been pretty special.
I’m one of those people who always likes to plan and have some goals/ targets for my life so this post is going to be looking at the plans I have going forward for the next year.
Personal/ Home Life
2018 was a pretty big year in my personal life as Luke officially moved into the flat with me and we’ve been successfully living together for just under a year now. I had no big worries about how we’d be living together as he spent so much time with me before, but it’s nice knowing we could function together in the same space and not argue to end up annoying each other too much.
For the year ahead the plans are mainly around moving, the flat has now sold and we’re just waiting for paperwork and solicitors stuff to go through before it’s official and we get a move out date. Once that happens it’s going to be all hands on deck working out what we’re going to keep and take with us and what we can sell/ get rid of it. Then it’s going to be working out what can be taken to my parents/ stored at someone’s house and what we need to put into a storage unit. By the later end of 2019 after some saving time I’d like to be in the position where we’re starting to look at houses.
The next part of my personal life is travelling, while 2018 wasn’t a massive year like previous ones I did manage to head to two new countries (Luxembourg and Romania) and take Luke to two of my favourite places (New York and Edinburgh), and then I also got to explore England a lot more than I usually do. 2019 is going to be an even bigger stark contrast.
As it’s Luke’s big 30 in 2019 we spent a while trying to work out what to do/ where to go, we initially thought why not try a cruise holiday? This was something we’d wanted to do for a while but in the end we decided that we’d leave that for another year. We ended up booking an indulgent Sandals holiday which is going to be incredible but will more than likely be my only holiday of the year. It’s going to be so strange for me but it’s all for a good cause.
The final big thing in my personal life is my weight/ size. I wanted to lose some weight in 2018 and that did not happen so it’s now one of my ultimate goals for 2019. I’m not wanting to lose weight for anyone other than myself, I know how much happier and healthier I felt when I lost weight a few years back and I know I can do it so I want to push myself to get back there. I’m not going to deprive myself or stop eating because that’s not me but it’s something I need and want to do for myself.
2018 was a big year for me work wise as I left my legal marketing role and moved to a job I love at ASOS. I still can’t believe I work for a company as innovative and ahead of the times as ASOS but it is fast paced and can be tough but that’s what works like. I genuinely love going into work and I haven’t felt this way about a job in such a long time, plus my role is so varied my day is never the same.
During 2019 I want to push myself to excel in every single area of my role as I’ll have been there a year at the end of March so I want to be the very best version of my job role, then I want to sink my teeth into as many new projects as possible at work.
During 2018 I’ve really pushed myself with my blog and the first step with this was to step down my role editing a music site called Mosh/ Hit The Floor. For me it was taking up too much of my time and not yielding enough return for me, so leaving this has given me more time to focus on my personal blog. I built my DA up to 42 in 2018 and it has helped to make into a part time business bringing in a modest income to go alongside my full time role. I used to post 5 times a week Monday- Friday (I know I’m crazy) but I decided to drop this to 4 times a week to give myself a little more time and have a spare weekday slot if anything last minute popped up that I wanted to push live.
In 2019 my main thing is just to continue what I’m doing blog wise but increase with social engagement as I don’t spend enough time on Twitter or Instagram engaging with my audience which I really want to do. I’d also love to get some additional writing gigs to do alongside my blog be it copywriting, writing for other sites etc.
What are your plans for 2019?
