How To Choose The Right Kitchen Appliances For You

kitchen appliances

One of the fun tasks we have coming up is buying our kitchen and it’s appliances. Thankfully we’ve done some research and know give or take what we want. But without planning, shopping for appliances can be tough. There are so many makes to choose from and different models with various features. And the prices can differ hugely depending on these. When I thought about how to choose the right kitchen appliances it wasn’t just about price. It was about useability and longevity as well.

Here are some tips on how to choose the right kitchen appliances for you.

Make sure to set a budget

For most people, the budget will play a part in how to choose the right kitchen appliances for you. And home appliances can be pretty expensive, especially fridges. Think about your budget and how much you can afford to spend. If it’s not an urgent purchase is it worth saving for a little longer to get a better quality appliance? Appliances are a huge investment as they’re going to be used a lot and make your life easier so it’s worth paying what you can. Having a budget will help narrow down your search.

Choose the right kitchen appliances by making a list of must-have features

Once you know your price range make a list of the features you want in your appliances. Do you want something with smart technology in it? Are you looking for something super energy-efficient? Or is getting a specific size or style most important for you? It’s important to know the features that you’ll use the most in your day-to-day routine. For us, we knew we wanted an American fridge freezer so we can store plenty of food. And we knew we wanted a filtered water tank as Luke drinks squash a lot.

Once you know your priority features and your budget you’ll have narrowed down the search.

Read up on the reviews

Once you’ve narrowed down your options it’s time to do some reading up on the appliances. Check out the reviews on products through retailer sites and across the internet. Reviews from people who already have the product can be invaluable to ensure you make the right decision. I always like to look at both the 5-star and 1-star reviews to get a rounded view.

When you choose the right appliances for you remember you’ll be using them regularly for years. You don’t want to spend out money on items which aren’t up to the standard. Or aren’t worth the extra money and investment.

Compare deals and offers

Once you have an idea of the models and appliances you want it’s time to find the best deal. If you shop blindly you may miss out on discounts or offers available. First of all compare the prices across different sites including Currys, John Lewis, Argos, AO, the manufacturer’s site and anywhere else you can find.

Once you know the best retailer for the price check cashback sites to see if you can get cashback. There might be two sites where the item is the same price, but you may be able to get cashback from one of them. The extra money you can get from cashback all adds up.

Great tips here. Choosing the perfect kitchen is hard because it needs to be workable and it can be hard to ‘see’ it before it comes together.

Good luck choosing your new kitchen, that’s our next job so I’m looking forward to seeing how you get on x

Great tips here, we want to redesign our kitchen but this is not going to be anytime soon. We are already planning what we want and how we want it

I pretty much choose by price. I would love to get a bunch of beautiful appliances but I go by price right now

Some great tips here I can take on board as we are doing a home renovation at the moment! I never thought to look at cash back sites either!

These are fantastic tips. I always make sure I know what budget I have going in and always read reviews to see whether they’re right.

I chose mine based on colour, possibly not the most informed choice, but I like it all to match LOL

I 100% get that, we did do that with our cooking bits. Thankfully our washing machine and tumble drier are in a separate room so we opted for white not silver and saved £50 per one! x

When we re-did our kitchen we already had the appliances so they just had to fit in!

Having just decorated the lounge we are now at the sofa buying stage and honestly it’s a complete minefield – texture, height, depth and even the colours change depending on the company! Choosing your appliances is definitely stressful!
