It feels like 2020 is disappering so quickly, and November has been exactly the same.
It’s been a tough month with everything going on and trying to make decisions about Christmas time. But I’m trying to forget about the things we’re going to miss out on this year like drinks, brunches and parties and focus on the things I am loving and looking forward to. Our first Christmas in our own home. Decorating the house to look like Christmas threw up all over it. And just blasting music as much as I can.
Here’s what November looked like for me.
In a twist of events I actually went on holiday at the start of November. We had a trip to Portugal planned for March which got cancelled and we postponed it for November. Niavely we thought COVID would be a thing of the past by then. But how wrong we were! I don’t think I would have chosen to book a trip then, but the flight was going ahead and we didn’t need to isolate in Portugal so we went ahead. And I’m so glad we did as I needed it.
The trip was essentially a golf trip for Luke and his dad, but me and his mum went along because why not?! I spent most of the days lounging in our villa reading books and just relaxing. It was the first time I’d had a full week off work since October 2019 so the break was just what I needed to relax my brain.
We had some lovely meals out and an amazing week.
Coming back after our holiday was very strange as lockdown 2.0 had started in the UK. But we also had our 2 week isolation period. The 2 weeks of being indoors wasn’t too bad, but after it was over I was so happy to be able to just go outside for a walk. Lockdown has been tougher this time because of the weather, but I understand why we had to do it. To be honest I’m susprised it didn’t happen earlier than this.
Like a lot of the country we’re moving into tier 2 which doesn’t change things a hell of a lot. But I am looking forward to being able to go out for a meal, even if I can only go out with Luke.
November has mainly been about thinking ahead to Christmad for me. We’ve finished our Christmas shopping now and every few nights I’m sitting down to do some wrapping. And when I wrap presents it’s an excuse to blast out Christmas music and sing along. Little things like this have kept me sane this month.
While our trees are up by now, in November I did all of the rest of the decorations. Having a full house to decorate rather than a room or flat has meant I’ve bought a lot more decorations. I sorted out our staircase garland, our mantleplace display and added tinsel and decorations where ever I could.
I say socialising in the losest sense of the word as we’ve obviously not been able to go out much. After my isolation finished I managed to go on a walk with a friend which was nice as it felt like I hadn’t seen her in ages. And I saw my parents from their frontdoor which again was nice, all things considering.
On the final weekend of November I had a virtual Christmas event with my friends which was so much fun. We wore Christmas jumpers, did a Christmas quiz (which I won!) and just had a right laugh. I think it was just what we all needed.

I feel like I did not really experience November, it truly disappeared on me and glad you manage to get some sun in Portugal.
Yeah lockdown was tough to get through, I hope you have a better December x
I think we’ve all felt it at some point or another. Really hope you have a better month ahead!
I am so pleased for you that you had a break away, I bet it was a wonderful time and much needed after this year!
I am also in the midst of wrapping, I have one child left to wrap for now and I am so pleased, it has left me feeling very relaxed about the upcoming festivities x
So gald you enjoyed your holiday… and then another rest when you got back too! This year has been an absolute utter nightmare, but there is so much of life to look forward to! We’ve got this! As for being Tier 2… I’m more envious of that than the fact you went to Portugal (one of my fave destinations! I’ve lost count of how many days we have been in Tier 3 now. I’ve been for 2 meals out this whole year… kid you not! :/ However… I am making it a mission that once life is back to normal, we will eat out more often to make up for it! 🙂 Keep going love and make sure you rock that Christmas jumper again! Sim x
I can’t even begin to imagine how tough it’s been being in tier 3 for so long. I think we’ve all learnt to not take things like going out for dinner for granted x
Its great you had a nice break away and sounds like a fun Christmas event too! We are going into level 3 on Friday which I’m looking forward too
It is going to be a strange Christmas this year. So glad you had the break to Portugal in November and completed isolation with no hitch. At the moment I am in Tier 3 which means we have not really been out of lockdown for a long time. Hoping things will be better soon
I didn’t do too much in November due to lockdown. I did do a couple of virtual murder mysteries though!
We’ve been talking about doing one of those with work as we did a virtual escape room which was so much fun x
Glad you managed to see some sunshine in Portugal, I am longing to head abroad again, will have to make do with a meal out with my husband
Overall I feel like November went by without me fully realising it. My work (NHS & freelancing) has been getting busier by the day and it’s been quite all consuming really.
That’s good that you’ve been able to keep yourself busy then to ensure the month went by quickly x
Strange how we all thought this would be under control by now, instead the foolishness of a few affects the many. This year the holidays will be different for sure!
It’s definitely going to be a weird one but we can all definitely try and make it a Christmas we all will try and enjoy x
Yeah it has deffo not been the best year at all. I too thought that Covid would have been long gone by now too x
So pleased you managed to get away in the end, it sounds like the break was much needed! I love decorating for Christmas too and my husband often jokes that people will walk past our living room window and mistake our house for a santa grotto LOL! Never too many decorations! It sounds like you have the right idea with wrapping a little every night too, it can be so time consuming. xx
There’s no such thing as too many decorations, Santas grotto vibes all the way x
Aww I’m so jealous you got to go away! Christmas is definitely different this year but we are making the best of it.
You were so lucky to get away, and with family too. It sounds like you achieved so much more than I did in November!
