Creative Bedroom Storage Ideas That Are Lovely To Look At

Bed and storage in the bedroom

*This is a collaborative post on bedroom storage ideas

The bedroom is a big place for renovation potential – it’s the place where we relax and sleep and keep our most prized possessions, and that means the bedroom can change as much as our moods can. We can redecorate it to our heart’s content, and we can chop and change the furniture every few months or so.

However, the side effect of moving the bedroom around this much is that you’re left with a lot of things that have no place to go. You end up with a cluttered floor and plenty of drawers filled with assorted items, and that just doesn’t sit right with you! You need everything to have its proper place, that both makes sense and is easy to access.

So what do you do? Well, you need to think about some creative bedroom storage ideas that’ll both be uber functional and lovely to look at. Let’s go through some ideas for you to consider.

Make Use of Your Bed

Your bed has a multitude of uses. It’s not just a place to lie down and sleep or relax in many other ways – it’s also a good place to fix in some extra storage space! That bed frame, or even that headboard, can go a long way for keeping things neat and safe, and within easy reach too. Thankfully, most bed frames come with built-in storage these days, but make sure you think about adding in a wide and flat headboard to keep lights and phones and books on as well.

Clothing Racks are a Great Addition

Hanging up your clothes keeps them off the floor, as well as keeping them crumple free and away from dust and any creepy crawlies that might make their way into your home. And usually, clothes are hung up in a wardrobe or built-in closet, but this doesn’t have to always be the case. If you’re looking to add a bit more bohemian chic or minimalist feeling to your home, have some open clothing racks fixed up in your bedroom.

These can be simple railings that are screwed into the wall, or they can be free-standing as part of a stand or rack – either one will work, and will allow some space to keep your shoes and shoe boxes as well. They’re also a good way to create a bit more room for seating within the bedroom, as you’ll need somewhere to sit down and put those shoes and other accessories on!

Put Up Some Shelves

Shelves can be great for creating storage space when there’s no room left to place anything down on the floor. Namely, they turn the wall into its very own storage system, and shelves can be small enough to provide just a bit of platform above the bed or the wardrobe or even the window for you to place things on.

So, why not invest in a 2×4 bit of wood and saw it into the size and shape you require, then paint it and get it screwed into the wall, or resting on some brackets? It’s a lot easier to do than you might think!

And, Instead of a Feature Wall…

Feature walls can be great to look at and can feature some storage solutions of their own, but if you’ve got some serious clutter to shift, they’re a waste of space! Sure, it’s nice to have a toned room that really complements itself, but in truth, you’re going to hate the decisions you made in the decor a couple of years down the line. It just doesn’t work for you!

Which is why you should think about blocking out that planned feature wall instead, and use a made to measure wardrobes website to figure out how a custom wardrobe would look and feel in your bedroom. Usually, these websites come with 3D generators so you can get a preliminary look, and if you’re happy with the result, why not order a piece of unique furniture that’s totally you? It’ll serve you a lot better than just a couple of shelves screwed into the wallpaper!

If you’ve got a lot of things that need putting away, make sure you’re thinking about fitting some more storage solutions into your bedroom. Even if you think you don’t have the room for the storage capacity, there’s always something you can do to fit more and more in! So keep the points of inspiration above in mind for your next bedroom re-dec.
